August’s YAR Advisory Board meeting focused on mental health and wellness! 💚

A huge thank you to Jen Frank from Thrive Upwards Counseling for joining us and sharing such valuable information with our youth. Jen did a wonderful job incorporating a fun, interactive activity while creating meaningful conversations and teaching important tools for supporting mental health.

Pictured are YAR Advisory Board members Mateo Castro, Otto Fiechter, and Anna McFarren, along with YSB Supervisor Emily Wyatt. YAR Coordinator Shelly Mossburg is not pictured.

We’re so thankful for community partners who invest their time and knowledge into our youth! 💚

🌟YAR Coordinator Shelly Mossburg, YSB Supervisor Emily Wyatt, and YAR Advisory Board members Otto Fiechter and Naomi Dailey spent their June outreach event cleaning up the Interurban Trail.

☀️Despite the heat, everyone worked hard to help keep the trail clean and enjoyable for the community. After finishing the cleanup, the group cooled off and celebrated a job well done with a sweet treat from Dairy Queen.

🌟Thank you to the Wells County Parks Department for supplying the trash bags, and thank you to everyone who honked, waved, and thanked us while we were out there. We truly appreciate the support and encouragement from our community!

Alayna Sheets, from Hope Missionary Church, was recently awarded a $500 Youth As Resources grant to carry out the group’s service project entitled “Bridge of Hope Gala.” This project provides goodie bags to all the attendants for the Bridge of Hope Gala that takes place at Hope Missionary Church. The goodie bags contained sensory items, picture frames, journals, sunglasses, and other things. Throughout the process, the group learned how to keep a budget, communicate as a group, and the importance of getting involved in their community. They formed meaningful and lasting connections with members of the special needs community during the event, creating moments of kindness, understanding, and genuine friendship that made a positive impact on everyone involved.

YAR is a program that recognizes youth as a valuable community resource. The program is governed by a youth/adult partnership responsible for awarding grants up to $500 to other local youth organizations to design and carry out community service projects.

To receive a grant proposal, contact Shelly Mossburg at Family Centered Services (260-824-8574 or [email protected]) or visit www.fcs-inc.net.
