This week’s natural highlight: The Cedar Waxwing 🐦

If you’ve noticed your palmetto trees suddenly losing all their berries, these birds are likely the reason. Cedar waxwings travel in flocks and stop wherever fruit is abundant and they can strip a tree clean in no time. They’re easy to spot with their sleek brown-gray color, black mask, and bright yellow tail tip. They won’t stay long, though they’re just passing through as they follow the fruit supply.

Enjoy them while they’re here… and say goodbye to those berries!🫐

In the Lowcountry from May to October baby loggerhead sea turtles 🐢emerge from their nests and make their first journey to the ocean. It is a small but powerful reminder that even the tiniest beginnings can lead to incredible journeys.
