Esophageal obstruction, or choke, is a serious equine emergency that can lead to life-threatening complications if not addressed quickly. Signs include green, frothy nasal discharge, excessive salivation, coughing, and difficulty swallowing.
Preventive steps include soaking dry feed, portioning treats, providing fresh water, using slow-feed toys or hay nets, and ensuring regular dental exams.
