When we say it was windy, we mean it! Check on your families, make sure their homes are okay and there belongings are fine. When winds hit like this, it does some serious damage.

Mother Nature is doing her part in helping us clean up our wood site today. Stay safe out there everyone! ❤️

As Mother’s Day gently comes to a close, our love and gratitude for the incredible mothers in our lives continues to shine brightly every single day. We hope each of you felt deeply cherished and surrounded by love today.
To the wonderful mothers within our organization, we want to say a special Happy Mother’s Day. Your strength, endless determination, and beautiful selflessness inspire us every day. You keep us grounded in what truly matters; nurturing, caring, and showing up for others with open hearts, just as you do so naturally.
Thank you for all that you are. We love you dearly. 💖

Free-use firewood available southeast of Flagstaff

Flagstaff, Ariz.— Free ponderosa pine firewood is available near Fay Canyon approximately 5 miles southeast of Flagstaff along Lake Mary Road for valid free-use permit holders.

About 300 cords of firewood are currently available and visible from the road, which includes full-length logs that are 10-14 foot long and neatly stacked near Sandy Canyon Trailhead.

Free-use firewood permits can be obtained at the Flagstaff Ranger Station or Forest Headquarters and allow up to five cords of wood per permit.

Permit holders are asked to keep safety in mind and be considerate of other forest visitors who are using the area and Sandy Canyon Trail.

"20–23 Greyshirts per day—supported by local fire personnel, city staff, and nonprofit partners—focused on reducing dense, invasive, and hazardous fuels.
Beyond fuel reduction, the operation delivered meaningful secondary benefits:
Wood Donations: Approximately 20 cords (2,500 cubic feet) were donated to the Warm Elders Nonprofit Organization , a family- owned nonprofit organization on the Navajo reservation who distributes firewood to elders and medically incapable individuals within the San Juan County side of the Utah Navajo reservation, with an additional eight cords provided to the City of Moab for community distribution.
Sustainable Practices: Wood chips generated during operations were redistributed locally for w**d control and soil stabilization—ensuring minimal waste.
For those looking to sharpen their operational skills, volunteering with organizations like Team Rubicon or other VOAD partners can provide invaluable real-world training in incident command, coordination, and field operations."
Thanks to Utah Emergency Management Association for the kind words and Jeff Mulcahy for leading a great team.
