"20–23 Greyshirts per day—supported by local fire personnel, city staff, and nonprofit partners—focused on reducing dense, invasive, and hazardous fuels.
Beyond fuel reduction, the operation delivered meaningful secondary benefits:
Wood Donations: Approximately 20 cords (2,500 cubic feet) were donated to the Warm Elders Nonprofit Organization , a family- owned nonprofit organization on the Navajo reservation who distributes firewood to elders and medically incapable individuals within the San Juan County side of the Utah Navajo reservation, with an additional eight cords provided to the City of Moab for community distribution.
Sustainable Practices: Wood chips generated during operations were redistributed locally for w**d control and soil stabilization—ensuring minimal waste.
For those looking to sharpen their operational skills, volunteering with organizations like Team Rubicon or other VOAD partners can provide invaluable real-world training in incident command, coordination, and field operations."
Thanks to Utah Emergency Management Association for the kind words and Jeff Mulcahy for leading a great team.
