Help us shout a big welcome to Aubade Coffee ’s second location at 537 Commerce Street in downtown Bluefield, WV, next to the historic Granada Theater!

What began as a dream of returning home and slowing down has quickly become one of Mercer County’s most unique small business success stories.

Owner David Coeburn and his wife left Florida, where they were serving in ministry and living a very fast “1,000 miles per hour” pace. After learning they were expecting a baby, their hopes turned to returning to their roots in southern West Virginia and embracing a slower pace of life as farmers. Instead, that journey unexpectedly led them into the world of artisan coffee. ☕️

Aubade Coffee is far more than a coffee shop. The Coeburns traveled to Florence, Italy last year to train as baristas, studying the science, craftsmanship, and tradition behind true espresso preparation. Their Italian-inspired approach focuses on every detail, from extraction and rest times to understanding how different coffees interact with individual taste preferences.

Their commitment to quality extends throughout the entire menu. Aubade roasts its own coffee beans right here in Mercer County, supplying not only its own locations but other coffee shops as well. Every syrup is made in-house, and alternative milks (including almond, cashew, and pistachio milk) are crafted from scratch without preservatives, dyes, or seed oils.

Yet despite the artistry and education behind the brand, Aubade is a place for everyone. Whether you're a coffee enthusiast eager to explore the nuances of espresso through one of their classes or lab offerings, or simply looking for a great cup of coffee on your way to work, you'll find a welcoming experience and a delicious menu designed for all tastes.

In addition to today's soft opening and ribbon cutting, Aubade will host a Grand Opening Celebration tomorrow from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
