Below, pictured from left to right, from the Richlands, VA Police Department are: Captain Matthew Whited; Deputy Chief Adam Crouse; Julie Johnson, CFV Board President; and Chief Ron Holt.

They visited the Foundation office to receive the Grant award of $9,984.55, which was used to purchase a DJI Matrice 4T drone. This drone has exceptional imaging capabilities, including thermal imaging and advanced night mode with low-light capabilities, which will enhance the Department’s abilities.

The Foundation's Annual Dinners was held October 9th at the Karen Preservati Center in Princeton. It was a great event. More than 250 people attended, and our speaker was former Princeton resident, Jim Miller.

He played basketball locally and at the University of Virginia, and went on to play for the Utah Jazz, and in Austria and Spain.

At its September meeting, the Board of Directors of the Community Foundation of the Virginias approved grants for 2025.

This year 87 grants were awarded to non-profit organizations and totaled $524,699, with funding being provided by 41 different funds.

Grants for Education - $91,994; Health - $22,250; Human Services - $304,356; Arts and Humanities - $108,919.

The Foundation wishes to thank the members of the Grants Committee for their diligence and hard work reviewing the Grants applications this year: Kathleen Blaydes, Chair; Maggie Asbury, Mary Azzo, Mary Jo Babbitt, Gene Bailey, Carol Cofer, Deborah Garton, Kelly Knowles, Mike Swatts, and Peter Taylor.
