⛰️✨ MOUNTAIN TOP SPOTLIGHT

This week’s Mountain Top Spotlight is on Kathleen Stiltner, whose Christian Acres story spans two decades beginning as a camper at 7 years old—and just about every role you can imagine!

She’s been a camper, junior staffer, senior staff member, SWAT (kitchen assistant), and first-aid and much more. If camp needs an extra set of hands, Kathleen is ready to jump in! But one of her favorite parts of camp is leading the Sticks ministry elective with junior high campers.

Through the years, Christian Acres has helped Kathleen learn to love Jesus out loud and lead with a servant’s heart. Her favorite camp song says it beautifully: “The Stand!”

Her advice for first-time campers? Come with an open heart, ready to grow in your relationship with Jesus,
and have plenty of fun along the way. Kathleen says Christian Acres is truly a mountain-top experience, and the friendships formed here last long after the week is over. 💙

Seven youth groups, one campfire, and a whole lot of fellowship! 🔥

We worshiped with the Falls Mills Christian Church young adults leading, heard an encouraging message from Eli Basile, young adult leader from MapleView Church, and wrapped up the evening with snacks and great company.

Our reminder for the night? Keep your spiritual fervor, serve the Lord, and don’t be lacking in zeal! (Romans 12:11) What a fun way to share one last campfire together! ❤️

🏔️💙 MOUNTAIN TOP SPOTLIGHT: WANDA HAYES HOLMES

A circle of campers. Hands held tight. Prayers passed from one person to the next.

More than 50 years later, Wanda Hayes Holmes still remembers how those days at camp ended. ❤️

After vespers, teams would gather in a circle to pray. Anyone who didn’t want to pray aloud could gently squeeze the next person’s hand to pass their turn.

“Very few hands were squeezed,” Wanda remembers. “Many had prayer requests and it brought us closer to each other through sharing one another’s burdens.”

What a beautiful memory to carry through a lifetime.

Wanda’s camp story began at Camp Joy, before Christian Acres property was bought they rented Camp Joy. She remembers attending around 1969–1970, and her last week as a camper was Spiritual Emphasis in 1974, when Kerry Allen the President of Louisville Bible College, then a student at BCE, was the speaker.

Over the years, she’s worn plenty of camp hats: camper, counselor, teacher, and team leader! Add in attending Gospel Sing, special events and retreats, there’s been a whole lot of fellowship along the way. 💙

But the part that has stayed with her most goes far beyond a favorite week:

“I believe because of the lessons and commitments I made at camp I am where I am spiritually today.”

That’s why these stories matter. A week at camp can become part of someone’s testimony for decades to come.

🎶 And yes, Wanda has a favorite camp song: “I’ve Been Redeemed”! She suspects today’s campers might not know that one… sounds like we may need to bring back a classic! 😉

Her message to anyone thinking about coming to camp is simple:
“You will love it. It’s safe. It’s spiritual. It’s fun.”

Thank you, Wanda, for sharing your memories and for being part of this camp family through so many seasons. We love that your wonderful times at Christian Acres continue “even now.” 💙

Meet Olivia May! 💙 Olivia has been coming to Christian Acres for the past 3 summers as a camper — and this past summer, she was even named Camper of the Week! 🏆

One of Olivia’s favorite things about camp is meeting new friends every year, but even more importantly, Christian Acres gives her the opportunity to grow closer to Jesus.

💬 “Listening to the sermons by preacher Jimmy really helped me focus more on Jesus and not the things around me.”

Her favorite camp song? 🎵 Big Big House!

And if you’ve never been to Christian Acres before, Olivia has one thing to say:

👉 “CA is the best week of the year and YOU NEED TO GO!”

❤️ Christian Acres is special to me because I get to focus on Jesus all day long.

We are so thankful for campers like Olivia and love seeing how God continues to work in their lives year after year! 🏔️💙

🌟 Mountaintop Spotlight: Theo May ✨

Theo has been part of the Christian Acres family for years — both as a camper and a staff kid — and some of his favorite parts of camp are chapel and rec. ❤️

When we asked what camp has meant to him, his answer was simple but powerful:

“It taught me a lot about how to serve God and who He is.”

And that right there is why we do what we do. 🥹 Camp is full of games, swimming, laughter, late nights, wildlife sightings, and plenty of memories… but our greatest prayer is that every camper leaves knowing Jesus a little more.

Theo’s favorite camp song is “Lean on Me,” and when asked what advice he’d give a first-time camper, he had one very important reminder:

“Well, camp is really fun and you should pack your swim trunks.” 😂🏊‍♂️

And his reason everyone should come to Christian Acres?

“You get to know Jesus and see wildlife!” 🦌🌲✝️

Honestly, we’re not sure we could describe camp much better than that. ❤️

We love watching kids like Theo grow up here, make memories here, and most importantly, grow in their relationship with Jesus.
