I just want to share one of my favorite duck species, the ruddy duck. These adorable birds are smaller than a mallard. About the size of a blue winged teal. This is a male. Their bills turn lighter blue due to hormones during mating season. If you want to see one in real life, check out the indoor water area at Bass Pro Shops in Independence MO!

This group right here. OMG. Build day was a success!!! Every single person here contributed in their own unique way. Lots of ideas being bounced around and we ROCKED IT! Many blessings to BreAnna Ellison, Tabitha Wrisinger Ellison, Gail Price, Kimberly Rentschler, Bryan Clark, Dakota, Dale, and my big brother Jason. 🦆💕
Also thanks to LouAnna Wrisinger for donating materials, and to everyone who supported this project financially!!!

This is our first rescue (Blind) Melon. She came to us long before we knew we were starting a rescue. I promise your life will be more fulfilled if you listen to these adorable sounds! 🦆💕

UPDATE 2: His legs continue to improve. We are hoping to release in the next few weeks. It will be a community event as the little goose had given SEVERAL people a run for their money before we even knew about him. He was described to us as “slippery” and he indeed was!!!

UPDATE: At this time this buddy has a good prognosis with proper meds and care. If he continues to improve, he will be released back with his flock. His wounds are looking very good and he maintains the ability to walk, although he is still in pain. And we all know he can fly!!! 😁THANK YOU TO THOSE WHO DONATED!!!
We are absolutely over the moon we were able to capture this flighted goose from Troost Lake. It took an hour but we were able to remove all of the fishing line from his legs. We are doing sterile wraps until he sees the vet. He is stable, eating like a horse and pooping like a goose. He can walk and stand. We are hoping his outcome will be release back with his flock. Vet visit cost is $70. X-ray will be $200. If you want to donate to this little fighter’s medical bills we would be grateful.

This why we need you to pick up your fishing trash and/or use dissolvable fishing line. Any questions? PLEASE SHARE.

🪶SO EXCITING!!! 🪶We just put in the order for building materials!!! Y’all we did it!!! It was a lot of posting and sharing and begging (yeah I’ll admit it 😁), but we raised enough to at least get the build started!!!
(We could use another $1000 but we have a week to go if you feel led to donate!)
THANK YOU TO EVERYONE WHO GAVE!!! WHETHER IT WAS $1 or $100-YOU GOT US THERE!!! 🦆💕

Our little structure is going to be SAFE for our patients, and much easier to clean. We are also improving our drainage (which needed to be done long before we ever had ducks 😂).

God bless this amazing community! 🙏🏼
