Established in 1983, MOSAR K9 unit is a nonprofit that utilizes specially trained canines to find lost and missing people. laws.

Missouri Search and Rescue K-9 Unit (MOSAR) is a dog and handler unit that is a nonprofit, charitable corporation under Missouri and U.S. MOSAR is a service group whose primary objectives are to assist law enforcement, fire, or emergency response agencies to find missing persons or their remains through the use of specialty trained dogs. In addition, MOSAR educates the general public about canine

SAR work. Our K-9/handler teams are always undergoing training to maintain a well prepared and professional unit. With over 30 years experience, MOSAR is still growing, learning and applying the latest techniques in the search and rescue field. For more information visit our website:

We were saddened to learn that retired MOSAR K9 Clarice passed away this past week. We are so thankful to all the years of service Clarice and Robin gave to MOSAR. Rest easy and run free Clarice! 🧡🐾

We had a great time presenting to the students at the Herndon Career Center again! We always look forward to educating students in their law enforcement/police science class and other classes that attend as well.

MOSAR had a great time at Crisis City in Salina, KS last weekend! It was great weekend of training, networking and collaborating with teams from the midwest and beyond. We had teams from GPSK9s / Great Plains Search and Rescue K9s, Inc. , Saline County Sheriffs Mounted Patrol and Rescue Squad , TEXSAR , Cloud County Emergency Management and 421 K9 Search & Rescue in attendance!

We had the pleasure today of presenting a course at SCAFFA 2026 ( State Capital Area Fire Fighters Association ) on Search and Rescue K9 Operations for Firefighters!

This class provided firefighters with an overview of Search and Rescue (SAR) K9 operations and how the K9 teams integrate into emergency response incidents. Participants learned the capabilities and limitations of SAR K9s, the types of incidents they can be utilized for, and how firefighters can effectively work alongside K9 handlers during search operations.

K9 search disciplines discussed were: wilderness air scent area, human remains detection, disaster, and trailing.

This course was designed to enhance firefighter awareness of SAR K9 resources and improve interagency cooperation during missing person incidents, disasters, and large-scale emergencies.

Thank you to the Wildwood Outdoor Education Center for letting us use the property for training again! All the dogs and humans enjoyed the property during our unit training today! And thank you to all of our visitors who came out to hide today, we appreciate it more than you’ll ever know.
