We had the opportunity to present a mock crash for our local students ahead of prom season. It was a glimpse into the very real consequences of impaired and distracted driving.

From the moment of impact, to the response from law enforcement, fire, EMS, even the involvement of the funeral home… every step reflects what happens on real calls like this.

These scenes are something our responders face far too often. Lives changed in an instant. Families forever impacted. One driver made a choice. Others paid the price.

As prom approaches, we hope this serves as a reminder:
Make a plan. Stay focused. Look out for each other.

Thank you to all agencies and volunteers who helped make this possible, and to the students who took the time to watch and reflect.

We would like to inform the community of the upcoming mock prom crash taking place at Blue Earth Area High School on Wednesday, April 22 at 1:00 p.m.

This educational event will involve local emergency responders, including area ambulance services, fire department, police, and the Sheriff’s Department, along with a Mayo 1 helicopter landing onsite as part of the simulation.

During this time, community members in the area may notice emergency vehicles, flashing lights, sirens, and helicopter activity. Please be aware that this is only a planned training exercise designed to help educate students and prepare emergency personnel for real-life situations.
