Future-Ready Talent: Building Your Bench Through Mentorship, Sponsorship & Succession Planning

As workforce needs continue to change, employers are thinking differently about how to retain talent, prepare for transitions, and grow employees from within. Mentorship, sponsorship, and succession planning are three practical strategies that can help organizations strengthen internal talent pipelines, adapt to changing workforce needs, and prepare for the future of work.

This Workforce Wednesday will explore how employers can support employee growth, create clearer pathways for advancement, transfer institutional knowledge, and prepare for future leadership or critical-role needs. The conversation will focus on practical ideas organizations can consider, whether they are just beginning this work or looking to strengthen existing efforts.

Participants will hear perspectives on how intentional talent development can support retention, continuity, and long-term workforce readiness.

Child Care Provider Training Courses through First Children’s Finance

Registration is now open for upcoming child care provider training courses through First Children’s Finance! These courses also include a Develop registration ID, allowing providers to track completed courses toward their annual training hours.

A great opportunity to build skills, meet training requirements, and continue providing quality care to children and families in our communities!

🌟 FARIBAULT COUNTY SMALL BUSINESS SPOTLIGHT 🌟

📍 Complete Wellness Chiropractic, LLC | Winnebago

For Dr. Sydney Coxworth, opening Complete Wellness Chiropractic came from knowing there had to be a different way to care for people.

After working in chiropractic offices where the approach didn't align with her own philosophy, Sydney decided it was time to create the kind of practice she believed in—one focused on meeting patients where they are and helping them pursue wellness on their own terms.

Her mission says it best:

❤️ “Empowering patients to optimize their well-being, their way.”

Complete Wellness Chiropractic has been serving the Winnebago community for about a year and a half, offering chiropractic care focused on improving mobility, exercise, nutritional counseling, and overall wellness.

And the business is already growing! Sydney recently opened a second location in Swea City while continuing to meet her client goals at her Winnebago practice.

But one of our favorite parts of Sydney's story isn't just the growth of her own business—it's her desire to see other entrepreneurs succeed, too. She recently helped mentor a friend through opening Kylan Nails across the hall from her Winnebago office.

Sydney's philosophy?

✨ “If you put good into the world, good comes back.”

Looking ahead, Sydney plans to continue helping her patients live their best lives while expanding the services she can offer, including plans to add acupuncture.

🌟 SMALL BUSINESS SPOTLIGHT: C&E Mini Mart | Elmore, MN 🌟

Small businesses can make a BIG difference in small towns, and C&E Mini Mart is a great example!

Owner Nancy Arriaza opened C&E Mini Mart to give the Elmore community a convenient, affordable place to pick up everyday essentials. The store carries basics like milk and eggs along with meals, frozen foods, snacks, drinks, and popular Mexican beverages.

For Nancy, it's about more than running a store. Her "why" is simple: to be a place for the community. Having basic grocery items available locally is especially important during our Minnesota winters, when the next option may mean traveling to another community.

And she's already thinking about what's next! Nancy would like to continue expanding the products available locally and is exploring the possibility of adding a commercial kitchen someday—not only to prepare more food for C&E Mini Mart, but potentially to provide kitchen space for other local entrepreneurs.

Running a rural business isn't without challenges. Because distributors don't currently deliver to Elmore, Nancy travels to Mankato weekly and Albert Lea every other week to pick up inventory herself.

But what keeps her going? Happy customers. Nancy says customers have been pleased with the store's service, prices, and product selection—and happy customers make her happy!
