The Harambee Foundation of West Point, PA is a 501(c)3 nonprofit public charity, working with a government registered local community initiative in Babati, Tanzania. Its mission is to bring positive change and life-altering educational opportunities to vulnerable children who have no family, or whose families have been affected by the scourge of poverty, HIV/AIDs, alcoholism, sexual, emotional and

physical abuse, and those with a loss of hope. Girls escaping from domestic servitude and forced labor are given the skills to be productive wives and mothers with the capacity to think for themselves. They are able to learn marketable job skills, which will bring them some level of financial independence. Rescuing these children has also had a direct impact on their physical and mental health. Previously, these children often struggled to find a single daily meal, and their medical care was almost non-existent.

It's days like today that make it all worth it! We drove 25km, far into the village, to find one of our girls uncle and reconnect with some family members & cousins. It's been 6 years since she has been to the place she was born. She had enough of a memory to get us to the Catholic Church she had remembered, were the first person we met led us right to her uncles place! Mungu ni mwema.

Today is the Saba Saba public holiday in Tanzania. Since the kids were off school we took the opportunity to purchase fifteen 100kg bags of maize for the students, second-half of the year, school lunch contribution. Thanks to those who supported!
