Today, we honor our founder, Rachel Burrell for our Fernside Fun Fact Friday.

October 10th, the day Rachel died, is a time to reflect on the legacy she left behind and the impact she continues to have today. As an advocate for grieving children, her vision began with her own family's experience and grew into a mission that has touched thousands of lives.

Rachel's legacy continues through every child, teen, and family we serve. Because of her determination to give grieving children a voice, Fernside remains a place of hope and connection for those navigating grief.

Veteran Adult Group Facilitators, Wendy Boyd and Heather Watson, joined us last Tuesday to help present information in the Group Process – Facilitator Training Class.

These highly skilled volunteers have a combined 23+ years of service. Thanks to both for sharing their time and knowledge with the new trainees. It was a memorable class!

Please join us in welcoming 16 newly trained Facilitators to our volunteer team! 🎉

These dedicated volunteers have gone through specialized training to serve as group leaders in our evening program. Some also will be helping at camps, Family Art Series, and our summer programs out in the community.

Did you know Fernside partners with the Cincinnati Nature Center to host seasonal family outings? These special events give families a chance to connect with one another and enjoy the healing power of nature.

We enjoyed a visit from Jennifer Zimmerman with bi3, along with Rick Wilson from the Bethesda Foundation, to celebrate the impact of their partnership. Connecting with organizations that help make our work possible is always a meaningful opportunity.

Three years ago, Bi3 awarded Fernside a $1.3 million grant that has helped expand our capacity and increase access to youth mental wellness services in area schools. We are incredibly thankful for their support and the difference it continues to make for children, families, and communities.

This week, we welcomed Dinsmore & Shohl to Fernside! Their team volunteered their time preparing supplies for our grief support groups. Thank you for helping make our programs possible and for supporting the children and families we serve!

Thank you to the Hamilton County Youth Advisory Board for welcoming us this past weekend. We enjoyed sharing about Fernside and helping participants learn how to support children and teens who are grieving. We loved seeing everyone take part in our Cracked Pot activity!

Fernside staff had a great time joining fellow Hospice of Cincinnati team members at the Cincinnati Reds game last week! It was a fun afternoon of baseball and connection!
