Fernside offers peer support for grieving families- children, teens and adults. Fernside works to increase community awareness of grief.

Fernside Fun Fact Friday! 🐴

Did you know Fernside partners with Horses on the Hill to offer children an equine-assisted grief support experience? Through hands-on interactions with horses, participants explore grief and connect with others in a unique supportive environment.

We're excited to offer our third session on Wednesday, August 12th, from 9:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m located at their farm in Price Hill.

Spots are limited. If interest exceeds available space, participants will be selected through a lottery system.

We had so much fun at our August Summer Art Series! Families enjoyed a LaRosa’s pizza dinner and created memory stone keepsakes.

It’s always a privilege to see families connect, share stories, and remember through art.

We're less than 2 weeks away from Fernside's Art Event Weekend! Tickets are still available for our Opening Reception on August 14, 6-8pm at Studio Kroner — recently named Best Gallery in CityBeat's Best of Cincinnati Awards!

Model Magic is an important way for children at Fernside to create symbols, objects, and scenes that represent special memories of the person who died. Each piece is as unique as the child who made it — a powerful reminder of how creative expression helps kids process grief in their own way.

Fernside Fun Fact Friday!

At Fernside, we use more than expressive arts to help children and teens explore their grief. Games are an important part of many of our groups, too!

From grief-focused games to favorites like UNO and Jenga with a Fernside twist, games help make conversations feel less intimidating while creating a fun, welcoming environment.

Happy National Chili Dog Day! 🌭

This past Friday, we celebrated 40 years of Fernside with the families, volunteers, and supporters. It was an evening filled with fun, laughter, and community!

This event wouldn't have been the same without the incredible entertainment and food we had! Thank you to Zak Morgan for the music, Jason the Great for the magic, Gav from Cincinnati Circus Company for the amazing balloon art, Skyline Chili One Holland served by Tiffany and Jasie, LaRosa's Pizzeria, and Snowie Cincinnati!

We are so grateful to everyone who joined us as we reflected on 40 years of supporting grieving children and families.

In honor of Parent Appreciation Day this weekend, we're highlighting that Fernside supports the parents and guardians too! While children attend their peer support groups, parents and guardians meet at the same time. These groups provide a space to connect with others who understand the challenges of raising a grieving child, share experiences, and find support along the way.

We are thrilled to be closing our special art weekend "Where Grief Takes Shape" with an interactive art session led by renowned Cincinnati painter and muralist Cedric Michael Cox!

Join us on Sunday, August 16 from 1-3pm at Studio Kroner. All are welcome, whether you can stay for a few minutes or the whole time, you'll be able to create your own unique piece of art to take home.
