Earlier this month Girl Scouts of Southern Appalachians held their Annual Meeting and Volunteer Award Luncheon.

Adult Delegate Melissa and Girl Delegate Abigail represented the Little River Service Unit as voting members. After the business meeting, National Delegates from our council gave updates from the National Convention in Washington DC this summer.

Afterwards, at the Volunteer Awards Luncheon, LRSU was proud to have 4 volunteers and 1 troop be honored with awards.

🦋 Dolly, you will be missed. 🦋

A little more magic left the world today.

Today, Girl Scouts everywhere are saying goodbye to one of our own, Dolly Parton. She understood something we know so well in Girl Scouting: that when a girl is encouraged to dream, given the confidence to try, and surrounded by people who believe in her, she can change the world. Dolly spent her life doing exactly that. She lifted others up, opened doors, gave back, and reminded us that you can be wonderfully yourself while making a difference in the lives of others.

In 2007, she became a Girl Scout Lifetime Member, receiving her very own sash and badges. The Coat of Many Colors Patch was also developed here at Girl Scouts of Southern Appalachians and thousands of girls across the globe have participated and earned it.

Thank you, Dolly, for showing us what it looks like to dream bigger, love bigger, and give bigger.

Once a Girl Scout, always a Girl Scout.🦋💚

Fun opportunity for Girl Scouts!

September 5 | All Levels & Vols

Come watch the Knoxville Smokies take on the Chattanooga Lookouts on September 5th for the last Saturday regular season game of the 2026 season. Girl Scouts and their families have access to exclusive discounted tickets. Fans can enjoy surprises and delights throughout the night. Gates open at 5:30 pm.

Stick around after the game to watch a spectacular fireworks show! The show will begin immediately following the conclusion of the game.

LRSU’s Outdoor Coordinator took a group of Girl Scouts on a hike through Maryville College Woods today. The girls learned what to do if you get lost and how to stay aware of their surroundings so they can always find their way back to their starting point.
