Illinois field corn can grow anywhere from 7 to 12 feet tall by late summer 🌽

That towering corn isn’t just impressive to look at - it’s working hard every day to capture sunlight and produce the food, fuel, feed, and everyday products we rely on.

Every stalk represents months of care from Illinois farm families. 🚜

🌾 Remade a classic 2013 meme and it still holds up! 💛

Meet Maia from Maddox Farms in St. Joseph, Illinois, the 2024 photo contest winner, reminding us all that the best gifts in life aren't things - they're the way we're raised and the values we carry with us. 🐄📸

"Being raised a farm kid… BEST GIFT ever."

Whether you grew up on a farm, in a small town, or in the heart of a city - we can all appreciate a childhood filled with love, hard work, and roots to grow from. 🌱

to a milestone moment in Illinois Corn history. 🌽

Pictured here (L to R) Rollie Main, John Block, Brett Swanson and Randy DeSutter holding the IL Corn Growers Association 50th anniversary book in 2022 celebrating five decades of advocacy, leadership and service to Illinois farmers.

What makes this photo even more special is that John Block and Rollie Main weren’t just part of the celebration… they helped build the foundation of IL Corn itself. Their vision and leadership helped shape what IL Corn has become today.

Here’s to the people who planted the seeds for the future of Illinois corn. 🌽👏

Illinois farmers produced around 2.27 billion bushels of corn in marketing year 2024/25 — but where does all that corn actually go? 🌽

➡️ 53% is exported to other states or countries
➡️ 27% goes to ethanol production (with DDGS livestock feed as a valuable co-product)
➡️ 14% goes to processing for products like corn syrup, bioplastics, and more
➡️ 6% helps feed livestock raised right here in Illinois

From fuel tanks to feed bunks to products used every day, Illinois corn goes far beyond the field.

From the Wisconsin border to the southern tip of Illinois is roughly a 6-hour drive - enough distance for corn growth stages to look completely different across the state.
