A big win for Illinois corn farmers. 🌽

On Friday, the State of Illinois announced a $15 million investment to expand the National Corn-to-Ethanol Research Center at SIUE. The Illinois corn checkoff also invested in this project.

Why it matters on the farm:
✅ More places to test new corn-based products and bring them to market, right here in Illinois instead of overseas
✅ New markets for corn, which means better long-term prices
✅ Jobs and training for the next generation of the bioeconomy

Farm families are working with razor-thin margins right now. Building new demand for corn is how we push back on that.

Fall nitrogen is like a first date: don’t rush it, check the weather, and bring a chaperone. (Okay, maybe that last one’s a little 1950s, but your N still needs one.) 🥊💕

It’s either a first date or a fight, and your soil temp decides which. Apply too early in warm soil and Mother Nature wins by knockout, taking your nitrogen and your money with her.

Don’t be that guy. Wait for 50°F and falling, watch the 7-day forecast, and give your N a babysitter like a cover crop or stabilizer.
