*UPDATE : STILL NEED $138*
***We Need $362*** to cover what we owe for keeping FAMILIES TOGETHER over the weekend. The DCS referral with the daughter are Getting Into A Local Family Shelter TOMORROW!!! YOU GUYS CAME TOGETHER AND WE KEPT THEM FROM BEING SEPARATED UNTIL THEY GOT INTO LONG TERM SHELTER!!!
The boy who was referred by his teacher last week HAS BEEN KEPT SAFELY IN A ROOM WITH HIS MOTHER WHO WORKS 2 JOBS and we start Applying For New Apartments TOMORROW!!! His last day of school is Thursday and I would love nothing more than to give him a good night's rest in a bed for his last 4 school nights!
BOTH of these FAMILIES have been wonderful to work with and with SHORT STAYS WE HAVE AVOIDED SEPARATION AND HAVE FOUND LONG TERM SOLUTIONS!
Did You Know that if We Were Not Able to Keep The Mom and Daughter Together in A Hotels for Homeless room that they would have been Separated By DCS last week due to Lack of Shelter and TOMORROW when a shelter room was available THEY WOULD NO LONGER HAVE QUALIFIED??? Isn't that crazy??? We think so! So instead we worked Quickly and Diligently to get them into a room and keep them in a room FOR LESS THAN A WEEK so that they remained together and qualified for the FIRST AVAILABILE SHELTER OPTION!!!
Did you know that there are amazing resources that will pay first months rent and deposit for families to get into LONG TERM SHELTER OF THEIR OWN? The boy and his mother could be moving into an Apartment of their own as early as The First of June!!! WE ARE ON IT!!!
WE NEED YOUR HELP TO PAY WHAT WE OWE SO WE CAN PAY FOR THEIR ROOM NEXT WEEK WHILE THE BOY FINISHES THE SCHOOL YEAR AND WE HELP THEM GET INTO AN APARTMENT OF THEIR OWN!!!

***We Need $195 to Keep Families Together *** Story Time:
Yesterday morning a teacher saw a boy walking to class looking rough. She said, "What is going on with you? Are you ok" The sweet boy replied, "Yes, I was just up until 3am." The teacher told him he needs to start going to sleep earlier. To which the boy replied, "It's Hard To When We Sleep In A Car."
The teachers heart broke. She started making calls. Before the school day ended she helped get me in contact with his MOTHER WHO WORKS TWO JOBS and was Evicted last week. THEY ARE SAFE AND TOGETHER AFTER A GOOD NIGHTS REST IN A HOTEL ROOM. WE NEED YOUR HELP TO KEEP IT THAT WAY WHILE WE WORK HARD TO GET THEM INTO LONG TERM SHELTER AND HOUSING OF THEIR OWN!
The little girl and her mom from the day before are also still safely sheltered together in a Hotels for Homeless room working on getting into a family shelter. When I spoke with DCS yesterday about their case the Wonderful Worker said, "We Have No Reason to Remove The Child Now That They Are With You!!!" MY FAVORITE WORDS EVER!!!
My other two favorite Highlights from yesterday were when I dropped off another long term medical client where he was welcomed with Love, Kindness, and Respect at the Sober Living House where he can sleep in his own bed until he gets his own house! AND helping the GRANDMA and Grandson get the last few documents FOR THEIR NEW HOME WITH PERMANANT SUPPORTIVE HOUSING WHERE SHE WILL BE HOUSED FOR THE REST OF HER LIFE!!!!
