The Brown County Humane Society (BCHS) is seeking volunteers willing to walk dogs at their shelter in Nashville. Enjoy the outdoors with a canine companion on BCHS’s 6-acre property, complete with barn, fenced in play area, and babbling brook. Volunteers are required to commit to 3 hours minimum on the same day every week, for at least 3 months or more.

The Clubhouse is “a world-renowned, evidence-based community where individuals with severe mental illness get their needs met and also feel needed as well.” Individuals interested in supporting the establishment of a Clubhouse in Bloomington are invited to join the Bloomington Clubhouse Launch team.

Looking for a unique, spooky, great time this Halloween, and a reason to dress up in costume? Volunteer for City of Bloomington Parks & Recreation's Skate and Scare Event. Volunteers will help set up the haunted house, staff the haunted house (costumes will be provided), or tear-down after the event.

🐝 Kitchen Assistants 🍳

Are you looking to make a direct impact in the lives of the most vulnerable in your community? Beacon, INC.’s Shalom Center day shelter provides free meals to people experiencing poverty in Bloomington. This vital and life-saving service is offered every day the Shalom Center is open, Monday through Friday. Kitchen Assistants are needed to help staff serve an average of 60 breakfasts and 120 lunches per day. A variety of shifts are available, and training is provided on site.

Teens at the Boys & Girls Clubs of Bloomington’s Ferguson Crestmont Club are looking for volunteers to assist them with their Teen Art Program. Arts and crafts activities will vary from week to week and provide a healthy outlet for emotional expression, stress relief, and identity development during a critical stage of growth. Volunteers will participate in arts and crafts activities alongside the youth, help with supplies, answer questions, and provide encouragement. No previous experience is required.

🍎 HHFB Community Book Fair Volunteers 📚

Hoosier Hills Food Bank (HHFB) hosts the Bloomington Community Book Fair October 15-20, 2026 at the Monroe County Fairgrounds. The book fair features over 100,000 items – books and much more. All proceeds go to the food bank, which serves 5 million pounds of food to communities across South-Central Indiana every year. Volunteers help HHFB produce their biggest annual fundraiser by unpacking and organizing book sale items, and helping out around the fairgrounds.
