🌿 BDSA Fall Picnic 2026 - Celebrating Community, Friendship, and New Connections 🇧🇩❤️

Alhamdulillah, our BDSA Fall Picnic 2026 was a wonderful success!

Organized by the 2026-2027 BDSA Executive Committee, the picnic brought together students, families, and friends for an afternoon filled with delicious food, fun games, laughter, adda, gift sharing, and meaningful conversations. Events like these remind us of the strength and warmth of our community and the importance of staying connected while away from home.

One of the highlights of the day was welcoming and getting to know the new members who joined Indiana University this fall. We were especially delighted to meet a new member from one of our neighboring countries. It was a pleasure learning about her experiences and sharing in the spirit of friendship and cultural exchange that makes our community so welcoming and diverse.

From enjoying great food together to participating in games and activities, everyone contributed to making the day memorable. The picnic was not just a gathering but a celebration of friendship, belonging, and the vibrant community we continue to build together.

A heartfelt thank you to everyone who attended and to all the volunteers and Executive Committee members whose hard work and dedication made this event possible. Your support and enthusiasm are what make BDSA a family.

We look forward to many more opportunities to connect, celebrate, and create lasting memories together.

We are thrilled to share that the Bangladesh Student Association (BDSA) at Indiana University Bloomington hosted 2026–27 Call-Out Meeting today, warmly welcoming new students to the IU and BDSA community! 🇧🇩

It was wonderful to meet new faces, introduce our Executive Committee and their roles and responsibilities, highlight BDSA’s flagship events, and share our upcoming initiatives and plans for the year ahead.

A heartfelt thank you to everyone who joined us and made the evening so warm and memorable. We look forward to a wonderful year of connection, support, and community together!

🎉 Celebrating one of our own! 🇧🇩💙

We are so happy to celebrate our BDSA community member Naziba Nusrat on the publication of her research in Microbiology Spectrum! 🧬🔬

Her work on wastewater-based genomic surveillance of human adenovirus F41 is a wonderful achievement and an important contribution to public health research.

We had an incredible time at the Fall Involvement Fair this year! A huge thank you to everyone who stopped by the BDSA booth. It is always wonderful to represent our culture, but the best part was seeing so many new faces eager to learn about our community.

One of the major highlights was our “Learn a Bangla Word” board. We loved seeing so many of you who had never spoken a word of Bengali before—try your hand at learning and writing new phrases with us. It was such a fun way to connect and share a piece of our heritage.

Welcome to all our absolute new members! We are so glad you joined the BDSA family and can't wait to share more events, food, and culture with you this semester.

🎉 BDSA is proud to celebrate the remarkable achievement of our community member, Shobnom Mustaree, who has been selected as a 2026 Stier Fellow at Indiana University Bloomington.

Shobnom is a PhD candidate whose research focuses on bacterial biofilm regulation and pathogenesis, particularly studying the human and animal pathogen Vibrio vulnificus. Her work explores molecular mechanisms related to motility, biofilm formation, and intracellular signaling that contribute to a deeper understanding of infectious diseases and microbial behavior.

🎉 BDSA is proud to celebrate the achievement of our own Executive Committee member, S M Nahian, who has been selected as an Environmental Justice Fellow for the 2026–2027 academic year at Indiana University Bloomington.
Nahian currently serves as the General Secretary of the Bangladesh Student Association (BDSA) and is pursuing a dual degree in Master of Public Affairs and Master of Science in Environmental Science at the O’Neill School of Public and Environmental Affairs.
His passion for environmental justice, climate change, sustainability, and addressing inequalities through research and policy reflects the kind of leadership and commitment that continues to inspire our community. This fellowship recognizes his dedication to creating meaningful impact through research, leadership engagement, and policy-driven solutions.

🎉 BDSA is proud to celebrate another remarkable achievement from our community member and former President, Al-Masrur Khan, who has been selected as a participant in the Cheng Wu Innovation Fellowship at Indiana University Bloomington.
Masrur, a PhD student in Intelligent Systems Engineering at the Luddy School of Informatics, Computing, and Engineering, continues to represent the Bangladeshi student community through his dedication to innovation, research, and leadership. His research interests include Deep Learning, Robotics & Autonomous Systems, and Human-Level AI & Reasoning.

Introducing Shegufta Rodoshi Rahman, Communication Officer of the Bangladesh Student Association at Indiana University Bloomington for 2026–2027.

Shegufta is currently pursuing her Master of Science in Environmental Science at Indiana University Bloomington through the O’Neill School of Public and Environmental Affairs. Her academic interests focus on climate change, sustainability, energy and environmental policy, GIS/Remote Sensing, and environmental data analysis.

Passionate about environmental research and sustainable development, she hopes to contribute toward meaningful conversations and initiatives surrounding climate resilience and environmental responsibility, while bringing creative ideas and fresh perspectives to the BDSA community.

We are excited to have her dedication, vision, and enthusiasm as part of the BDSA Executive Committee for the 2026–2027 term.
