Oh Hey There Friends! It's Gifts of Grace time!!!!! This is our 22nd year!!
Our need is great, bigger than each of our previous years (I know i say that every year...alas it still rings true). We have 424 client Wish Lists and 109 Child Wish Lists (children or grandchildren of client's ).
As most probably already know, I am a Medical Case Manager for Positive Link, a Program of Indiana University Health Bloomington. Positive Link is South Central Indiana’s Premier HIV/AIDS Service Organization covering 49 Indiana counties. Currently we serve between 375-425 individuals living with HIV/AIDS and their affected families within the South Central and Western Regions. I am the lead staff person for Positive Link’s Client Holiday Gift Assistance Program (Gifts of Grace). I am again contacting all of the individuals throughout our communities who have been so instrumental in helping Positive Link clients in the past, and at the same time reaching out to new donors.
Gifts of Grace is an annual holiday gift drive that links community member gift donations to individuals living with HIV/AIDS in Bloomington and the surrounding counties. Positive Link provides social services for those living with HIV including linkage to medical care, social support, medication assistance and adherence tools, food and nutritional needs, housing and utility assistance, advocacy, mental health and substance use counseling and referrals, PrEP and PEP Services as well as Primary Care for our client’s.
We continue to experience unprecedented times due to health and economic concerns locally, nation-wide and globally. All of our lives have been altered and differently affected by illness, financial strain, increased homelessness, increased substance use issues, mental health concerns and other matters out of our control. Positive Link clients have been significantly impacted. Our Gifts of Grace Program continues to cater our “gift giving” to gift cards with the exception of client’s who have children. We will be obtaining actual “Wish Lists” for client’s children/grandchildren in the home. We are requesting help from both returning and new donors to come together and take this support one step further by allowing individuals and/or families to receive a needed gift card gift during this holiday season.
Gifts of Grace donations vary in cost. Positive Link clients and their children/ families complete a "wish list" (this year it will be in the form of gift cards except for children) which we code and then provide to donors. Eighty percent of our client's (and their affected families) live on or at Indiana's poverty level. Many of their "wishes" are actual necessities, and our hope is to be able to allow people to receive a gift card that they can use toward something that they might not ordinarily be able to afford.
If you are interested in participating in any aspect of Positive Link’s 22nd Annual Gifts of Grace Holiday Assistance Program, whether as a gift card donor, being a donor for a child or giving a monetary donation, please contact Amy Hays at [email protected].
We are very excited to announce that now have the ability to accept Gifts of Grace donations via our “Donate Now” portal. We will be notified of your donation and will be able to send a donation receipt immediately. If you choose to donate to Gifts of Grace this way, the link is below. Let us shop for you!!!!
