Mark Ayers was nine years old when he had his first heart surgery at Riley Hospital for Children. From that day on, it became his dream to be a doctor.

Dr. Ayers is a pediatric cardiologist who specializes in general cardiology. He treats patients with heart rhythm abnormalities that need ablations, pacemakers, or defibrillators.

“I wanted to pay it forward for everything that my doctors did for me.” -Dr. Ayers

Ayers prioritizes working as a team with his patients and families to come up with the best treatment plan. He says his favorite thing about his job is the lifelong relationships he is able to build with his patients!

On Saturday, August 8 from 9am-12pm IUDM will be partnering with SkyDive Indianapolis for a SkyDiving event! Skydivers will take a teddy bear down with them which will then be named “The Bravest Bear in the World” and live with a patient at Riley Hospital! Sara Massy is passionate about improving communication skills within natural
environments. She utilizes Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC), cultural competency, child-led play and trauma informed care.

EARLY INTERVENTION FIRST STEPS PROGRAM
Serves patients ages 0-3 who have or are at risk of developmental delay
Therapists provide services in the patient’s home
Families work as a team
Services are designed around the families routine and use toys at home

Sara sees about 20 families per week and enjoys getting to form connections with parents and families in a home setting. Sara uses play-based therapy to engage children in practicing communication skills.

“A lot of times when kids know speech is hard, they are afraid to use their voice. Westin says so many things you can understand now, he’s labeling things, tells when he wants to help, asks for help. He has a lot of confidence to use his voice.”
