City news:
Parks and Recreation will be celebrating the 50th Anniversary of Sherwood Oaks Park with a neighborhood party at the park on Wednesday, July 22nd from 4-6pm. We'll have a little more info to share later, but we're going to have the neighborhood block party trailer from the HAND department and some refreshments. Save the date.
You may also have noticed the traffic counters on Bainbridge and Allendale. These are from the City of Bloomington Planning and Transportation Department and are related to a resident-led grant application for Safe Streets for All traffic calming measures on those two streets. The counters are not a guarantee that anything is happening, just part of a study.
Lastly, be aware that Monroe County will be closing Rhorer Road at the Jackson Creek bridge sometime early next month as their highway department will be replacing that bridge. Here's the advance notice from their website:
RHORER ROAD, between Sare Road & Jamie Lane: Rhorer Road will be closed approximately 600’ west of Sare Road from July 6, 2026 – October 2, 2026, for Bridge Removal and Replacement by CLR Inc. However, work will continue under flagging conditions through December 11, 2026. Detour Westbound: North on Sare, West on Rogers Road to Winslow, South on Walnut Street Pike. Detour Eastbound: North on Walnut Street Pike, East on Winslow to Rogers Road, South on Sare Road. Contact: Travis Hughes 812-208-5875.
