Charlotte Zietlow's presence in the audiences of Voces Novae's concerts was a warm and comforting sight for many years. We will miss her dearly, and are honored to provide music for her memorial service this Saturday, October 3 at 3:00 pm alongside Carrie Newcomer and Alain Barker. The service is open to all and will take place at the Unitarian Universalist Church of Bloomington, 2120 N Fee Ln.

The City of Bloomington is also planning an event to celebrate and honor Charlotte's life on Thursday, Oct 1 in Switchyard Park. Both events are open to the public.

We hope to see you on Saturday to join in remembering this remarkable woman and the impact she made on so many lives here in Monroe County.

We’re grateful to the Unitarian Universalist Church of Bloomington for being Voces Novae’s musical home throughout the year. Our rehearsals and most of our concerts take place in this lovely acoustic, and we were honored to thank the congregation last week by providing the gift of music for the service. We look forward to starting rehearsals for the 2026-27 season this fall. Stay tuned for concert dates to be announced here and to our email list at a later date!

Voces Novae joins the Bloomington community in mourning the sudden and heartbreaking loss of Kayte Young. This spring we had the pleasure of joining Kayte in the WFIU Public Radio studio and welcoming her to a rehearsal for a spot about our choir on her radio show, Nice Work. She was all kindness, curiosity, and enthusiasm. We will miss her dearly.

You can listen to the episode at the link in the comments. This Sunday at 10:30 we’ll be singing a song she interviewed us about, “Vos Advenae” by VN soprano Abby Henkel Roman, at the Unitarian Universalist Church of Bloomington service. All are welcome to join in person or via livestream. Kayte’s energy will be with us in spirit. 🧡

Thank you to everyone who joined us Sunday night for our performances of our spring concert, “For One, or For All?”! We were honored to share our music with you, and would love to hear your thoughts about the program in the comments.

You can hear Voces Novae next on May 16 when we join the UU Church Choir, Bloomington Chamber Singers, and the Bloomington Symphony Orchestra for a thrilling performance of Beethoven’s 9th symphony.

Today is the day! We hope to see you at one of our performances tonight (Sunday) at 5:00 and 7:00 pm. Admission is free! Donations are gratefully accepted at the door if you’re able to give. Bring a few friends, enjoy a short and thoughtful concert, and leave with lots to talk about.

What does it mean to be a good neighbor? Some people hope for friendly neighbors who check in on each other, loan tools and baking supplies, and know each other's kids. Others want to be left in peace. Let's ponder it together this Sunday, April 12 at For One, or For All? a Voces Novae concert.

We’re so excited to sing for you this Sunday! Remember, there are two chances to catch this concert, 5pm and 7pm on Sunday. Overflow parking is across Fee lane in the gravel IU lot, and even further (but not too far) across the Bypass in another overflow IU lot.

Have you ever sat and thought about greed? Do you have a hard time trying to talk about it? At our concerts this Sunday, Dr. Bernice Johnson Reagon’s thoughts on greed will come to life in her composition of the same name, performed by Voces Novae tenor Lara Lynn Weaver, in a lively song originally recorded by Sweet Honey in the Rock.

🎤 Almost every Voces Novae concert has a narrator, who gives context to the music and explores the theme through stories and citations. At our performances this Sunday, we’re bringing back not one, but two of the finest! Michael McGregor and Sylvia McNair will enlighten audiences and musicians alike with a fascinating script written by our Artistic Director, Susan Swaney. 🎶 April 12 at 5 and 7 pm at the Unitarian Universalist Church of Bloomington. Free!

If you don't already listen to Nice Work on WFIU Public Radio, you might want to start this weekend! The arts and culture show will feature an interview with Voces Novae Artistic Director Sue Swaney (foreground) and soprano/composer Abby Henkel Roman (wearing the hat) about our upcoming concert, which will be the world premiere of a new piece by Abby, "Vos Advenae" ("Strangers").

The episode airs on 103.7 at 7am this Saturday, April 4, and at noon on Sunday. You can also listen to the recording afterward at www.ipm.org/show/nicework. Then join us on April 12 and enjoy For One, or For All? a Voces Novae concert!
