A big thank you to the Girl Scouts for stopping by the fire station and dropping off cookies for our firefighters!

We truly appreciate your kindness and generosity. It was great meeting everyone and spending some time together. During their visit, we showed them our fire trucks, how we gear up for emergencies, and even gave them a look at how we train by forcing doors during firefighter training.

Thank you for supporting your local firefighters and helping make our day a little sweeter. We hope you had as much fun as we did! β€οΈπŸš’πŸͺ

β˜€οΈ With warmer temperatures arriving, We want to remind everyone to stay safe and stay hydrated.
Heat-related illnesses can happen quickly, especially during outdoor activities, sports, yard work, or community events.

πŸ’§ Tips to stay safe: β€’ Drink plenty of water throughout the day β€’ Take frequent breaks in the shade or air conditioning β€’ Wear lightweight, light-colored clothing β€’ Avoid strenuous activity during the hottest parts of the day β€’ Check on children, older adults, and pets

🚨 Know the signs of heat stroke: β€’ High body temperature β€’ Hot, red, dry, or damp skin β€’ Confusion or altered mental status β€’ Severe headache β€’ Dizziness β€’ Nausea or vomiting β€’ Rapid pulse β€’ Loss of consciousness

Heat stroke is a medical emergency. If someone is showing signs of heat stroke, call 911 immediately, move them to a cooler location, and begin cooling them while waiting for help.

Stay cool, stay hydrated, and enjoy the warm weather safely! β˜€οΈπŸ’§πŸš’

Moms are everyday heroes. From the sleepless nights and endless sacrifices to the unconditional love and strength they show their families every single day, your impact never goes unnoticed. You comfort us when we're hurting, cheer us on when we're struggling, and somehow always find a way to put others before yourselves.

Today we celebrate the mothers raising future leaders, caring for their families, supporting their communities, and showing what true strength looks like. Whether you're a mom, stepmom, grandmother, foster mom, or someone who fills that role in another person's life, thank you for everything you do.

To all the moms working holidays, balancing careers, answering late night calls, and still making it home to be there for their families, we see you and appreciate you.

Happy Mother's Day from your Bloomington Firefighters.

Last week, crews responded to a structure fire. The fire started in the rear of the home and spread quickly, filling the main floor with thick smoke in under a minute.

No smoke alarms activated.

No injuries were reported. Everyone, including the animals, made it out safely.

Crews made a quick knockdown, but this is a reminder of how fast conditions can turn and how little time there is to react.

Smoke will take your visibility, your air, and your time before the flames ever reach you.

Working smoke alarms are critical. They are your early warning and give you the chance to get out before conditions become unsurvivable.

Take a few minutes today to check your alarms. Make sure they work. It matters more than you think.

Some of our very own members recently joined forces to help raise money for the Special Olympics.

Simon Peterson kicked things off by running the Frozen 5K. Simon also teamed up with Mike Campbell and Justin Florece to take part in the Polar Plunge. ❄️πŸ₯ΆπŸ§Š

It was a great day filled with laughs, cold water, and an even bigger purpose supporting an incredible organization and the athletes it serves.

We had a lot of fun raising money for a great cause and hope to see you next year at Lake Nokomis.

Last Sunday was a great night on the ice with our partners at Bloomington Police. Friendly rivalry, great competition, and plenty of laughs.

At the end of the day we're all on the same team serving this community.

However, for the second year in a row... the firehouse got the bragging rights.

Today we honor our neighbors, our brothers, Police Officers Paul Elmstrand and Matthew Ruge, and Firefighter/ Paramedic Adam Finseth, along with their friends and the families whose lives were forever changed.

We remember their courage, their service, and their sacrifice. We will never forget.

This month, BFD trained on ice rescue operations.

Our focus was simple: keep the patient safe and keep ourselves safe while operating in some of the most unpredictable winter conditions.

Our crews worked through real-world scenarios involving self-rescue, victim removal, and equipment deployment on unstable ice. As we continue to train, we'll be diving deeper into hypothermic emergencies and the treatment priorities for patients experiencing hypothermia.

Training never stops. Preparedness saves lives. Stay safe and stay warm! πŸš’β„οΈ
