BDPA Central Illinois Chapter (BDPA-CIL) Our goal is to increase our membership in years to come by realizing our goals for our mission, vision, and values.

BDPA of Central Illinois Chapter provides professional development programs and services, positioning members and educating youth to develop paths to the forefront of the information technology (IT) industry through vital relationships and skills. The Black Data Processing Associates Central Illinois Chapter (BDPA-CIL) provides professional development programs and services, positioning members at

the forefront of the information technology (IT) industry through vital business relationships. The BDPA-CIL Chapter was chartered August 12th, 2003 in Philadelphia, PA. The founding members were Lorenzo Marshall, Dave Beasley, and Theonnie Shields. The chapter began as a non-profit organization with fifteen members and still exists as a non-profit organization today. Chapter activities include (but are not limited to):

-Professional Development Workshops
-Program Meetings on various topics
-Community Forums
-High School Computer Competition
-IT Showcase

The Central IL chapter of the BDPA is working on hosting a 2022 High School Computer Competition tech camp! This camp runs mid-September through May 2023.

Please share your interest for this program by sending the chapter a note. We want curious, bright high school youth in Central IL to learn website design and development!

The program has in-person (Bloomington, IL) opportunities, as well Zoom options on Saturday, Oct. 1, from 11:30 am to 3:00 pm CST.

Girls in Bloomington-Normal will get the chance to hone their STEM skills through its Tech Astra summit this fall.

About the Event
BDPA is helping students learn about computers and web development. Sessions begin on Saturday, May 22nd, 2021! The BDPA Summer Computer Camp Program continues every 4th Saturday ending September 25th, 2021. Each session is approximately (2) hours (9:00 AM – 11:00 AM, with 2 hours of home study expected) and will be held virtually, hosted by BDPA Central Illinois.

PARENT ORIENTATION will be held on Saturday, May 22nd, 2021 from 8:30 AM – 9:00 AM virtually.

Please join us for the upcoming Data Science Academy orientation on Saturday, April 24, 2021 from 10 AM - 12 PM EST.

Academy Overview:

College students will participate in a 12-week series of weekly workshops on Saturday that will expose them to open source tools in data science. The workshops will have four main focus areas including Excel, SQL, R, and Python. Students will use the skills learned to solve a real-world data science problem in the at the 2021 BDPA Conference Data Science Competition.
Registration Overview

(50) students will be accepted.
No prior data science experience required.
Majors in computer science, statistics, math, machine learning, or social sciences preferred.
