A statement from our president, Breana Brown, regarding the approval of the Quality of Life roadmap:

"I am incredibly grateful to be part of the second team entrusted with creating and implementing a roadmap to strengthen the quality of life for communities across Bloomington. The WBRP is honored to partner with Teska and the City of Bloomington, especially because WBRP was born out of the first Quality of Life Plan developed with Teska nearly 15 years ago. We look forward to building a table that brings together residents, community leaders, organizations, and partners committed to meaningful and lasting change. Together, we have an opportunity to strengthen programs, revitalize our neighborhoods, and create communities where residents can thrive. Thank you to the City of Bloomington for shining a light on our neighborhoods and investing in the people and communities that make Bloomington stronger."

The city council unanimously approved spending $99,700 to contract with Evanston-based planning and design firm Teska Associates to develop the West Bloomington Quality of Life Road Map.

WBRP Tool Library Members! Introducing a new tool: an electric drain snake! This tool uses a motorized, rotating metal cable to break up, hook, or cut through stubborn clogs in plumbing and sewer lines. Thank you to our generous Tool Library donors and volunteers who keep our Tool Library up and running! Interested in donating tools? Drop them off at the WBRP during operating hours!

We will have fresh produce grocery boxes available today (8/22) starting at noon! Boxes include sweet corn, slicing tomatoes, mixed onions, garlic, green bell peppers, summer squash, & potatoes. 🍅🌽🫑

We are incredibly grateful for the City of Bloomington's continued support. The John M. Scott Healthcare Trust grant program allows us to serve our community through our bike and healthy eating programs.

UPDATE: We received a large influx of submissions shortly after launching the application, so we’ve had to pause the application process for the time being.

We encourage the community to stay engaged with us as we navigate this. There may be additional opportunities to participate in the future, and we’ll be sure to share updates as they become available.

We’re excited to announce the second year of the WBRP’s Healthy Eating Program! 🎉

We are now accepting applications from families interested in participating in this year’s program.
Through the Healthy Eating Program, we aim to increase access to fresh, nutritious, and locally sourced foods for families on the West Side of Bloomington, Illinois.

Here’s what families can expect:
🥕 Grocery boxes twice a month
🌱 Partnerships with local farmers, growers, and fresh markets
🛍️ FREE fresh grocery boxes for participating families
🍎 A variety of fresh and locally sourced foods, which may include:
• Fresh fruits & vegetables
• Fresh herbs
• Local honey
• Freshly squeezed juice
• Tea
• Fresh/frozen locally sourced meat

Our goal is simple: to make healthy, fresh food more accessible to families in our community while supporting local farmers and food producers. 💚

If you or a family you know lives on the West Side of Bloomington and would like to participate, we encourage you to apply!
