On this Memorial Day, we come together as a community to remember and pay our deepest respects to the brave souls who have made the ultimate sacrifice in service to our country.

This weekend, our players proudly wore special commemorative stickers on their helmets to honor Sgt. Joshua Rodgers. His courage and dedication inspire us all, reminding us of the true meaning of sacrifice and service.

As we play the game we love, we carry Sgt. Rodgers' spirit with us, ensuring that his legacy lives on in our hearts and actions. Let us always remember the heroes who protect our freedom and cherish the moments we have together.

Thank you, Sgt. Rodgers, for your selflessness and bravery. You will never be forgotten.

This Memorial Day weekend we recognize and honor Sgt. Josh Rodgers.

Josh was a 2013 graduate of Normal Community High School who participated in local sports including several years in the McLean County Baseball program. Josh enlisted in the Army with the intention of becoming a Ranger; he completed his training in May 2014 and was assigned to Charlie Company, 3rd Battalion, 75th Ranger Regiment. He served his country as a Machine Gunner, Squad Automatic Machine Gunner, Gun Team Leader, and Ranger Team Leader.

On April 27, 2017 during combat operation in Nangarhar Province, Afghanistan Josh's platoon conducted a special operations raid on a known ISIS- K stronghold. Josh and fellow Ranger Cameron Thomas were fatally wounded during the battle. Josh was posthumously awarded the Purple Heart and Bronze Star Medal with Valor.

The SGT JOSHUA P RODGERS MEMORIAL FUND has been established in honor of Josh to provide financial support to Army Ranger Regiment veterans and youth sports in the Bloomington-Normal area.
