💛 An Update on Girls Inc. of Monroe County 💛

Girls Inc. of Monroe County merged with the Shelbyville affiliate in 2020, after the COVID-19 pandemic forced a temporary closure of independent operations. After years of incredible service and growth, we've made the difficult decision to close the Girls Inc. of Monroe County center. Despite our best efforts, we were not able to secure the funding needed to sustain the center long-term.

This is not a reflection of our amazing Monroe County staff, who have been extraordinary mentors and role models every single day. We simply couldn't close the funding gap.

Our Monroe County center will remain open through August 31, 2026, and we're working to support families through this transition.

To our supporters, board members, staff, families, and most importantly, our girls: thank you for making Monroe County a place where girls grew, dreamed, and led. This experience will stay with us forever. 💚

Girls Inc. of Shelby, Decatur, and Rush Counties remains strong, and our mission continues.

A huge thank you to Family Success Martial Arts School for teaching our girls confidence, focus, and some awesome kicks! They had an incredible time, and Mrs. M. Bosstick was a fantastic instructor! We are so grateful for community partners who inspire our girls to try new things, build confidence, and believe in themselves. 💙

Here is a look back at Week 2 of Summer Camp! ☀️ From civic engagement to soccer and roller skating, our campers had an amazing week!

💬 Campers learned about government and civic participation from State Senator Shelli Yoder, Mayor Kerry Thomson, and Monroe County Council President Jennifer Crossley.

🤝 A special thank you to MCNOW and the League of Women Voters Bloomington-Monroe County, Indiana for helping organize this inspiring panel and sharing their knowledge with our campers.

⚽ Thank you to Cutters Soccer Club for teaching our campers soccer skills and encouraging teamwork on the field!

🛼 We also had a blast roller skating at Western Skateland!

We are so grateful to our community partners for helping create these memorable experiences. Stay tuned for Week 3 highlights! 💙

Week 1 of Summer Camp is officially in the books! ☀️🎉

What an incredible week filled with learning, creativity, and fun. Campers had the opportunity to learn about cycling with Teter Cycling, explore hands-on science with WonderLab Museum, and meet Miss Heart of the Midwest, Nicole Jackson! Along the way, they made frozen yogurt, conducted exciting experiments, visited the library, and created memories with friends.

We can't wait to see what adventures Week 2 brings! ❤️

Thank you to Teter Cycling for teaching our campers all about cycling and the Little 500! 🚴‍♀️ Campers got to design their own cycling jerseys and even take a ride on a Little 500 bike. We may have some future cyclists at Girls Inc. in the making! 💙

We kicked off the week by creating activism posters! As part of our BoldlyHER program this summer, campers are learning about self-advocacy, community advocacy, and how their voices can create positive change.

We can't wait to see all the ways our campers grow, lead, and make an impact this summer! 🌟
