Children's Organ Transplant Association - COTA The Children's Organ Transplant Association (COTA) exists to assist patients who require a life-saving organ, bone marrow, cord blood or stem cell transplant.

The Children’s Organ Transplant Association (COTA) helps children and young adults who need a life-saving transplant by providing fundraising assistance and family support. We work with all transplant patients age 21 and under for any disease complication, and with any patient who needs a transplant due to a genetic disease such as Cystic Fibrosis or Sickle Cell Anemia.

October is . The Dorfman family’s daughter Kennedy received a life-saving liver transplant in 2021. This year their son Caden needed a liver transplant, too. Today both children are post-transplant and COTA continues to help the family navigate a lifetime of transplant-related expenses. “COTA has truly made us feel that we are not alone,” said COTA Dad Eric.

For 40 years, COTA has been assisting transplant families. Rose Daniel has been a COTA Kid since July 2022. She received her life-saving liver transplant that same month.

COTA Kid Jackson Judd is celebrating two years in remission after his liver transplant. Today, his days
look much different than they once did. He plays, learns and makes friends.

His mom shared, “We don’t take a single one of them for granted.” Instead of hospital days and treatments, Jackson is celebrating school days, swim lessons and karate. We are celebrating these everyday milestones with him.

No one understands the transplant journey quite like someone who has lived it. Through COTA’s Transplant Families program Caregiver Connect, caregivers of pediatric transplant recipients can connect with others, share experiences and receive guidance from a licensed clinical social worker. Virtual meetings are held on the second Tuesday evening of each month.

Patients who battle Cystic Fibrosis (CF) often require a lung transplant sometime in their life.
