The Babywearing Project

The Babywearing Project We provide babywearing education, collect donations of new or gently used carriers, and distribute them to eligible families in the Bloomington area.

The Babywearing Project was established by Anna Haag, Family Consultant & Postpartum Doula, in February 2013. Working from a small office in downtown Bloomington's Fountain Square Mall, we distributed 23 carriers and hosted two gatherings and a babywearing walk in our first year. We use WIC guidelines to determine eligibility, and any family who qualifies for WIC can choose an available carrier to

use for their little one. We meet to choose the carrier that will work best for each family, and provide education about proper use of the carrier. One form is filled out and kept on file, and the family can use the carrier for as long as needed. When they find that they're no longer using the carrier, it's returned to us so that another family can benefit from it. If you would like to donate to The Babywearing Project, new or gently used carriers can be dropped off in our donation bins at Bloomington Area Birth Services and The Green Nursery. We're working toward our 501(c)3 status, and hope to be able to accept tax deductible donations in the near future! Stay tuned to hear about this year's gatherings, free and open to everyone!
