And while I have your attention, the 50 Men Steering Committee is looking for 1-2 men to join us as we move into 2027. One of our members has moved out of state, and another is splitting time out of country, so our leadership team needs some fresh energy.

The duties are simple: spam everyone via Social Media quarterly to announce meetings, keep the website updated, work with the Community Foundation so our non-profits get paid, and meet once every three months for a delicious breakfast somewhere in Bloomington.

Low commitment, no financial or legal obligations - just a few minutes a month and a desire to help. Interested? Got questions? Come talk to one of us at the coming meeting on October 15th (Ken, Dave, Nick, JR or Brad) or reach out via email or social media via the links at the bottom of the attached card.

It's nearly time!

50 Men Who Care of Monroe County meets this coming Thursday, October 15th, at Heartwork Brewing, 1703 N College Avenue, Bloomington.

Membership is open to everyone! Men can join us, women are invited to join our sister organization, 100 Women Who Care, who meet on 11/5 at the Bloomington Country Club. If you're new, please come out - there's no financial obligation to come see what we do, and guests get their first b**r on the house!

For our regular members, please come with a non-profit in mind to nominate. We've been so successful this year that ALL of the non-profits previously nominated have been pitched to the group, so right now the drawing hat is empty. There's never been a better time to snag a few thousand dollars for a worthy non-profit close to your heart.

50 Men meet again in TEN DAYS! October 15th!

- Free B**r!

Non-Profit Call:

At the July meeting, we drew out ALL of the remaining non-profit groups that had been nominated for our quarterly award. That means there are NO groups in the hat, we're starting from a blank page right now. So there will NEVER be a better time to nominate your non-profit to see if you can snag a few thousand dollars for a cause near and dear to your heart.

I'm hopeful that we can get at least three - hopefully non-profits we've not heard from or about before. If we don't get that many, you KNOW I'll stand up and talk about mine, and since they win every time I've done that it'll be unfair to the rest of y'all. So please, please come with a non-profit in mind and throw them into the hat next Thursday. Or else. :D

FREE B**R:

Okay, the real reason you've read this far. In our ongoing quest to continue to grow our numbers, I am re-issuing this challenge to our current members. If you bring a guest with you to the October meeting, I'll buy their first b**r. I mean, we're at a brewery after all! Find me during Social Hour (5:30 - 6:00) to get a drink ticket for your guest.

If you have never attended a 50 Men meeting, the October meetup will be the perfect opportunity, as I'll buy YOUR first b**r! Find me (Ken Buzzard) and I'll hook you up with a ticket. I'll be the guy in the cool sweater vest.

New attendees are NOT on the hook to join us... just show up, give us a fair hearing, and decide for yourself. And it's better than a timeshare pitch - yeah, we want your money, but only so we can collectively do good stuff for the community.

That's it, plain and simple. Help us grow our numbers so that the impact each of us make can make an even bigger impact locally. If doing that means bringing a thirsty friend to a brewery, then that's a win for everybody eh?

Parking:

Since we tend to fill their parking lot, Heartwork has asked us to also use the parking lot behind the old Colorado Steakhouse just to the south. Do NOT park in the private lot north of them - cars may be towed. See map below.

PS - Every non-profit that has been thrown into the hat this year has pretty much been pitched, so there will never be a better opportunity to pitch for YOUR cause than now! Come show up, enjoy a tasty cold adult beverage, and walk away with thousands of do-gooder dollars for your favorite charity.

Congratulations to the Monroe County Humane Association, winner of the 2026 Third Quarter award from 50 Men Who Care of Monroe County, worth $3650 in an unrestricted grant!

This marks the third consecutive quarter where 50 Men have made donations of increasing amounts each quarter, having now distributed well over $9000 in awards... every penny of which remains in Monroe County to help our worthy local non-profits!

Congratulations to Andrew K and the MCHA! Well-deserved!!

Congratulations to the Monroe County Humane Association who were selected by 50 Men Who Care as the recipient of our Third Quarter grant.

I met with CFBMC this morning to count pennies, and the grant looks to be north of $3500! We'll have the final figure at the end of next week as our last-minute signups get processed, but if it changes it'll only go up!

Congrats to MCHA and to all of the groups who presented last night. And congrats to Beacon for their Second Quarter win (photo below).

We do this all again in October. :)

Several month ago as we were readying ourselves for our January kickoff meeting I shared this video. It was as inspiring then as it is today, so as we near our Third Quarterly meeting tomorrow I thought I'd reshare.

There are 50 Men and 100 Women Who Care chapters all around the country. Both of the local Bloomington chapters are members of the 100 Who Care Alliance, and each Alliance chapter does this one simple thing in similar but in slightly different ways. This video describes how the Women's chapter in Chattanooga does it.
