Shining Moment!

Three of our Supportive Housing clients have taken an exciting step toward their future by enrolling in classes to earn their high school diplomas through the Excel Center! With support from the Excel Center including transportation assistance, life coaches, and daycare as well as laptops from SCCAP, they’ll have the tools they need to succeed. We’re incredibly proud of their determination and can’t wait to cheer them on throughout their journey! This is an amazing reminder of how having a safe and permanent home leads to the attainment of education, big goals, and a bright future.

This World Mental Health Day, we recognize that mental health is just as important as physical health. For those experiencing homelessness, the challenges can be overwhelming, but no one should have to face them alone. Together, we can break the stigma, offer support, and create pathways to healing, hope, and stability.

Domestic violence can force people to leave behind everything they know in search of safety.

October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month. This month, we recognize the courage of survivors and the challenges they face on their journey to healing. Through shelter, support, and community, we help individuals and families find safety, stability, and a path forward.

As changes to Medicaid work requirements approach, many Indiana residents are concerned about maintaining their healthcare coverage. For individuals and families already experiencing housing instability, access to healthcare is critical. Losing that coverage can create even greater barriers to stability and well-being. We encourage everyone to stay informed and seek assistance if they have questions about their Medicaid eligibility.

We are grateful for the proposed $1 million investment from Monroe County to support our Beacon Center! If approved, this funding will help us continue working toward a facility designed not just to provide shelter, but to help people move from homelessness to stable housing and brighter futures. We are excited for this potential support and look forward to hearing if it is approved.
