The Bloomington Chapter closed out the spring meeting season in style. We celebrated a member completing the Members Course, welcomed two new ladies with their oath ceremony, and installed our officers for the 2026-2028 term. The work does not stop for summer though.

We have a full slate of plans centered around America 250, and our September meeting will be here before we know it. This is already shaping up to be a remarkable year for our chapter and this community. 🇺🇸

History came alive today, and we didn’t have to go far to find it. 🇺🇸 For our next America 250 “field trip” the Bloomington Chapter visited the The Lilly Library, Indiana University for a curator talk on the Declaration of Independence, including the remarkable backstory of the Dunlap Broadside, the printed announcement of independence distributed across the new nation in the hours and days after the vote.

We then walked across the street the Eskenazi Museum of Art at Indiana University for a look at Gilbert Stuart’s portrait of George Washington, which predates his well-known work now in the National Portrait Gallery. Same artist, same subject, but this one came first and it lives right here in Bloomington.

So proud to be part of a chapter that finds world-class history in our own backyard!
