Hey, ! This weekend: Friday, Saturday, Sunday, and maybe Monday if we have anything left, we're having a GayRage Sale at the Front Door Center! Since the start of the project in 2019, we've been collecting materials not knowing what space we might have or what we might do there, and so there is a whole lot to get rid of so we have room to host people and programs. Come on in between 11am and 9pm or so to see what you might like to have in your home or place of work. We haven't set prices, but are asking for donations of reasonable amounts for each piece. We're prepping for the Grand Opening. Stay tuned for that announcement and for the programming schedule!

Two more days until our soft open during Bloomington Pride!!! Come on in and cool off with the AC, seats, a frosty beverage, and all your questions!

We got so many donations for Bloomington Pride’s Gender Affirming Closet! You know we’ve been doing our own at Prides for years , and have about ⅓ of what we have been collecting on 3 double racks (including binders - most new!) and we are forever accepting clothing and footwear donations if they’re in good shape and not funky.

Chairs and tables are clean and ready to be put on the floor now that most of the painting and patching and other stuff is done! I’ll have lettering for windows cut tomorrow and maybe applied. We had full houses of volunteers, and we have a phone! 812-369-5909 is the number! So much more to report on coming up!

The Grand Opening Gaylala will happen later, so stay tuned! I didn’t take photos of the other volunteers for security reasons, but my own kid is forever linked to me, so she’s already doomed.

Speaking of, we have security cameras.
Rules will be posted on the window to the right of the door as you walk in so we all know what is expected and what the consequences of not being safe in the space are.

There is still so much to get done before it’s “just right,” but it’s so amazing to just be open!

Love to you all!
Melanie Davis

🌈 Join Us at Bloomington Pridefest! 🌈
Mark your calendars for August 22 to celebrate with us!

Here is what you can look forward to at our booth:
Pride Merchandise: Stop by to shop our latest Pride items and "pun"ny socks! Every purchase directly helps fundraise for our community center programming that we offer free to the community.

Community Art Project: We’ve teamed up with the Creative Glass Center to create an art sculpture! For a suggested $5 donation, you can create a monochromatic fused glass piece that will become part of a stunning rainbow glass sculpture that will permanently hang in the skylight of the Rex G. Hinkle Library at the Pride commUnity center!

Come by to say hi, show your pride, support a wonderful cause, and leave your creative mark on our community space. We can't wait to see you there!
❤️🧡💛💚💙💜

Can't visit us at Bloomington Pridefest? Be on the lookout for our glass workshops at our center where you can create the sculpture, or visit our 20th anniversary festival on October 3 and create pieces there!

Short Notice:
We're so excited to be in a space that were inviting folks to Come Dream With Us! Stop by Tuesday the 7th from 6-8pm at 122 S College Avenue (the former PopKorn Location - they've moved to E. 3rd St next to Rush Hour) and let us know what you think, what you want, and hear what we're dreaming up! We'll have signups for volunteers if you're into that, and we can discuss how to put together the kind of programming you're passionate about, or at least get that conversation started.

It's still fairly empty and we have a lot of cleaning and painting and things to do before we open, but come celebrate with us! We'll have some light refreshments and such to share!

Wednesday was our first day in possession of the space that will be The Front Door. To celebrate, 7 of the 9 board members (Beth and Minnassa couldn't be here, today) and their partners and a teen gathered for a pizza dinner in the mostly empty ground floor of 122 S College Ave! We thank all of you who have donated over the past 7 years to get us to this point! Your support and belief and hope are the reasons for why this exists, and we cannot wait to host you all! More on getting involved later, there's a lot of work to do, and I'm so excited to be at it!
THANK YOU!!!
