Despite our desperate pleas and passionate speeches, the three Monroe County Commissioners — Lee Jones, Julie Thomas, Jody Madeira — have insisted on evicting our most vulnerable neighbors during the deadliest time of year. They refused to put a vote to stall the eviction until spring, so our neighbors are still at risk. We need your continued support — please show up at the commissioner’s office hours at 8 p.m. tonight. There was an outpouring of love shown, and we need your voice to amplify the voiceless.

“Hello, Im calling in protest of the eviction notices handed down to two homeless camps in Bloomington, one north of RCA Park and one in Brown woods. I oppose these evictions in the strongest terms, I denouce any local authority or business that appoved of trashing my neighbors belongings and stranding them in the deadly cold with no place to go and no shelter.

Shame on Monroe County Sheriffs Department, the Board of Commissioners, and the mayor of Bloomington for endorsing this action. I reject the attempted murder that is a winter eviction. I demand you pause evictions until spring in order to save lives. Elections are always on the horizon, and our voice will be levied against you otherwise.

I support my neighbors staying where they have already lived for years, and look forward to solidarity with them this Monday in spite of your inhumane treatment and in celebration of the suspension of this deadly policy.”
