The 2026 Midwest Permaculture Convergence is THIS WEEKEND, and we're honored to welcome one of the leading voices in native plants, ecological restoration, and regenerative landscapes: Dale Hendricks.
Dale has been growing and propagating plants professionally since 1975 and co-founded North Creek Nurseries in 1988, helping shape the native plant movement through decades of work with perennials, grasses, and regionally adapted landscapes. Since 2009, he has been a passionate advocate for permaculture and biochar, teaching throughout the eastern and Mid-Atlantic United States.
At home in Pennsylvania, Dale continues his work of rewilding the landscape—building productivity, diversity, resilience, and ecological capacity while tending gardens, propagating plants, and spending time with his grandchildren.
This weekend, Dale will be sharing TWO thought-provoking presentations:
🌱 Building Resilience, Diversity & Opportunity
The native plant movement has accomplished a great deal, but what happens when we bring native plant advocates and permaculture practitioners into conversation? Are invasive plants always the enemy? Why are they moving so quickly? How can we become better stewards and gardeners while improving climate, water, and habitat? This session challenges assumptions and invites us to see our landscapes with fresh eyes.
🌎 The Rest of the Story: Soil, Carbon, Water & Climate
Climate conversations often focus on carbon emissions, but is carbon the whole story? Dale takes us deeper into living soils, water cycles, transpiration, perennial systems, and the powerful role gardeners and land stewards can play in building resilience. What does meaningful climate action look like on the ground?
