August 28th is Rainbow Bridge Remembrance Day 🌈

10 years ago I walked into the Metter Animal Shelter and adopted their longest resident; a black, overweight, "senior" dog. He was 6 at the time. Hardly a senior, but certainly older than what the typical adopter would want. I didn't care. To me, he was perfect.

The decision to adopt him is what ignited the fire in my soul, and turned my love for animals into so much more.

3 years ago, when we embarked on this journey, I knew that our name not only needed to be as unique as we are, but it also needed to be as meaningful as our mission. "Two Black Dogs" is a tribute to my oldest personal dogs, Zeus and Zoey. Two dogs that gave me a reason to get back up when life pulled me to my knees.

Last Monday, I laid with Zeus on the floor of our vet's office and with a broken heart told him "Good boy, I love you" for the last time. 🖤 For ten years he was my shadow, always at my feet. Even with a house full of dogs it still seems quieter somehow, like a piece of us is missing.

Half of our namesake may be gone, but his legacy will live on in all that we do.

‼️ FOSTERS NEEDED‼️ 𝐏𝐋𝐄𝐀𝐒𝐄 𝐑𝐄𝐀𝐃 𝐓𝐇𝐄 𝐄𝐍𝐓𝐈𝐑𝐄 𝐏𝐎𝐒𝐓 ‼️

📍 Ludowici, GA

Chihuahua mixes, approximately 6 weeks old.
* They were found in a tote box on the side of the road. 🥺 No clue what they are mixed with, nor can we guarantee how big they will be once fully grown.

♂️ 3 males
♀️ 5 females

𝐍𝐎𝐓 𝐑𝐄𝐀𝐃𝐘 𝐅𝐎𝐑 𝐀𝐃𝐎𝐏𝐓𝐈𝐎𝐍. If you are interested in adopting, you will follow our foster-to-adopt process. In a nutshell, this means you can take your puppy home and raise it as your own, but the rescue retains legal ownership of the dog until AFTER spay/neuter is complete and the adoption is finalized. (Fee paid, contract signed). During this time we will take care of all the vetting, medications, prevention, etc. Everything is performed at one of our partner vet clinics, use of a different clinic will be done at your expense.

**Spay/neuter is a non-negotiable and will be done around 4-5 months of age. This is of course included in the adoption fee, the rescue always covers surgeries and all other medical needs that may arise.

𝑶𝒏𝒍𝒚 𝒊𝒏𝒕𝒆𝒓𝒆𝒔𝒕𝒆𝒅 𝒊𝒏 𝒇𝒐𝒔𝒕𝒆𝒓𝒊𝒏𝒈? That's totally fine! We still cover everything, and provide supplies. Fosters are expected to help transport their foster pet to and from appointments and adoption events as needed, as well as working on socialization and basic training and manners (crate training, housebreaking, walking on leash, no play biting, etc). 🚗 Transport accommodations can usually be made if we have enough notice.

⚠️ NOTE: If approved I will not bring the puppy to you, you must be willing to come to Ludowici. I strive to be flexible with our fosters and adopters and will always do what I can to make the entire process as convenient as possible, but PLEASE understand that I run the dog portion of our rescue in my spare time. I can't drive all over creation picking up/dropping off, etc. Please be willing to work with me and we'll do what we can to make it happen 😊

Sweet Sharon, who was adopted from us earlier this year, is sadly being returned to our rescue. 💔 Her family has spent 𝗠𝗢𝗡𝗧𝗛𝗦 working to help her transition and coexist with their other cat, but unfortunately, Sharon continues to go after the other kitty and things simply aren’t getting better.

This is 𝗡𝗢𝗧 𝗵𝗲𝗿 𝗳𝗮𝘂𝗹𝘁— she just needs a home where she can be the only cat. ❤️

Sharon is approximately 1.5–2 years old and is:

These 8 will be spayed/neutered, vaccinated, and cared for before heading back to where they belong. Every cat we fix means 𝙛𝙚𝙬𝙚𝙧 𝙠𝙞𝙩𝙩𝙚𝙣𝙨 𝙗𝙤𝙧𝙣 𝙤𝙪𝙩𝙨𝙞𝙙𝙚 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙤𝙣𝙚 𝙨𝙩𝙚𝙥 𝙘𝙡𝙤𝙨𝙚𝙧 𝙩𝙤 𝙗𝙧𝙚𝙖𝙠𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙘𝙮𝙘𝙡𝙚 𝙤𝙛 𝙤𝙫𝙚𝙧𝙥𝙤𝙥𝙪𝙡𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣. ❤️

🐾 𝐈𝐓’𝐒 𝐓𝐈𝐌𝐄 𝐅𝐎𝐑 𝐁𝐀𝐍𝐃𝐈𝐓 & 𝐓𝐇𝐄𝐋𝐌𝐀 𝐓𝐎 𝐅𝐈𝐍𝐃 𝐓𝐇𝐄𝐈𝐑 𝐅𝐎𝐑𝐄𝐕𝐄𝐑 𝐇𝐎𝐌𝐄𝐒! 🐾

These two sweet babies have officially become our 𝒍𝒐𝒏𝒈𝒆𝒔𝒕 𝒓𝒆𝒔𝒊𝒅𝒆𝒏𝒕 𝒌𝒊𝒕𝒕𝒆𝒏𝒔, and we’re really hoping their families are out there somewhere! 💔🐾

Bandit and Thelma have been with us since early June. They were trapped, along with their two other siblings and mom, at a large apartment complex where we’ve been working our TNR program since February. So far, we’ve taken in 𝟏𝟔 𝓴𝓲𝓽𝓽𝓮𝓷𝓼 𝓯𝓻𝓸𝓶 𝓽𝓱𝓲𝓼 𝓬𝓸𝓵𝓸𝓷𝔂. Their two siblings have already been adopted and are living their best lives, and now Bandit and Thelma are wondering…𝘄𝗵𝗲𝗻 𝘄𝗶𝗹𝗹 𝗶𝘁 𝗯𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗶𝗿 𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗻?🥺

At roughly 5 🅼🅾🅽🆃🅷🆂 🅾🅻🅳, they still have plenty of kitten energy, but they’ve also learned all about household life! They’re litter box pros, have great manners, and are doing wonderfully in their foster home with other cats and little humans.

They are:
❤️ Spayed/neutered
❤️ Microchipped
❤️ Fully vaccinated
❤️ Dewormed
❤️ FIV/FeLV negative
❤️ On monthly flea prevention
❤️ Healthy with a clean bill of health

These two are on the shy side, so they’ll need a little time to decompress—probably a week or so—in a new home. But once they feel safe and settled, their sweet personalities really start to shine. 🥰

🐾 𝗧𝗛𝗘𝗟𝗠𝗔
Thelma is a sweet, cuddly girl who will walk right up to her foster mom asking for attention and snuggles. She isn’t a fan of being picked up, but don’t worry—𝙨𝙝𝙚’𝙡𝙡 𝙙𝙤 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙬𝙤𝙧𝙠 𝙤𝙛 𝙜𝙚𝙩𝙩𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙝𝙚𝙧𝙨𝙚𝙡𝙛 𝙞𝙣𝙩𝙤 𝙮𝙤𝙪𝙧 𝙡𝙖𝙥!😂 ❤️ She loves carrying around her crinkle toys and absolutely goes to town on her catnip kick sticks.

🐾 𝗕𝗔𝗡𝗗𝗜𝗧
Bandit is a playful, laid-back guy who LOVES wrestling and playing with his kitty friends. He’s calm and easygoing but definitely enjoys his snuggles, too. His favorite pastime? Chasing spring toys all over the house! 🌀🐱

We would 𝐿𝑂𝑉𝐸 𝑡𝑜 𝑠𝑒𝑒 𝐵𝑎𝑛𝑑𝑖𝑡 𝑎𝑛𝑑 𝑇ℎ𝑒𝑙𝑚𝑎 𝑎𝑑𝑜𝑝𝑡𝑒𝑑 𝑡𝑜𝑔𝑒𝑡ℎ𝑒𝑟, but we understand that isn’t always possible. They can be separated as long as their new home has another friendly kitty for companionship.

They would likely adjust quickest to a calmer home with older children, although they’re also doing wonderfully as they get used to younger kids in their foster home.

These babies have waited long enough. Their siblings got their happy endings… 𝒏𝒐𝒘 𝒊𝒕’𝒔 𝑩𝒂𝒏𝒅𝒊𝒕 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝑻𝒉𝒆𝒍𝒎𝒂’𝒔 𝒕𝒖𝒓𝒏.🥹 ❤️
