Following-up our phone call with this email so you have all of my contact information. As I had mentioned over the phone, our rapid test results from our sampling efforts indicate the bloom was negative for microcystin (the most common toxin found in HABs). Due to our negative results, we are not issuing any formal advisories or warnings for Eagle Lake at this time. We will be posting general information and education about HABs to our page, hopefully within the hour, if you could share that with your association.

The blue/white coloring of the bacteria that was seen is a distinguishing factor associated with bacteria dying off and dying bacteria do not produce toxins. However, because there was evidence of the dying bacteria, we are assuming that there was at some point (and still may be) an active HAB on the lake. If you, or any other residents have concerns or see any suspicious looking algae or blooms, feel free to reach out or share my contact information, which is below:

Additionally, pictures can be submitted directly to the state at [email protected] or they can be called at 800-662-9278.

This is an email I received today regarding the bloom.
The county has been very responsive and helpful with this issue. Please follow any guidance provided by the county and use her contact information if you want to report any issues.
Thank you

Eagle Lake Treatment Update – Scheduled for Wednesday the 18th

We’ve got Eagle Lake on the schedule for next Wednesday. This will be a targeted spot treatment focusing on milfoil, curlyleaf pondweed, and any algae we may encounter.

Our first treatment addressed the major areas of curlyleaf and milfoil, so this round is more of a follow-up to catch anything that’s popped up since. Algae can emerge quickly, so we’ll assess the conditions during our visit and treat as needed.

As always, we’ll continue monitoring the lake closely and adjusting as necessary to keep it healthy and enjoyable for everyone!
