Bloomfield Mandolin Orchestra Bloomfield Mandolin Orchestra is a community-based traditional plectrum orchestra. Performances are held year-round throughout the New York metropolitan area.

The traditional founding date of the BMO is 1941, although recent research has shown that it existed much earlier. The Orchestra is comprised of volunteer musicians from a vast cros

s section of backgrounds and careers. Maestro Raul Abbad Huaman joined us as the new conductor of the Orchestra after a twelve year tenure of Maestro Enrico Granafei. The orchestra rehearses every Tuesday from September through May at the Bloomfield Middle School, 60 Huck Road, Bloomfield, NJ, from 7:30 to 9:30 P.M. The Bloomfield Mandolin Orchestra welcomes new members. Knowledge of reading music is required to join. The Orchestra also offers annual classes and workshops which are open to the public. If you have played a string instrument before, especially violin, viola, cello, bass or guitar, please consider joining our orchestra. Skills are transferable. The important thing is to be able to read a little bit guitarist play mostly chords and we could use a few guitars with some classical training. Playing the mandolin is fun. Violinists only have to learn how to play Tremelo and how to hold the mandolin and use the pick. It might be awkward in the beginning, but it doesn’t take long to catch on. We meet on Tuesday evenings from 7 to 930 at Bloomfield middle school, 60 Huck Rd., Bloomfield New Jersey. I will be there to welcome you on Tuesday. Please direct message me if you need more information. Kristine Massari
