Auerfarm Scenic Reserve features views of Talcott Mountain and the Metacomet ridge. ps to help the reserve be a regional asset. We support the State's efforts to implement effective conservation practices, create accessible trails, and promote public visits. For info on donating, events, and volunteer opportunities, contact us. Auerfarm was managed by Beatrice Fox Auerbach, also known for her leadership at G. It showcased a cutting-edge poultry farm, prize-winning orchard, and successful Guernsey dairy herd. A large portion became today’s 4-H Education Center. In 2014 one of her descendants gifted the remaining 40 acres to become Connecticut’s 110th State Park, preserved in perpetuity by a conservation easement donated to the Connecticut Forest & Park Association.

Learn about the history of this special Park, take in some beautiful views from atop Cider Hill, and share a warm kid-friendly drink with FASR volunteers who support various activities at the Park. Wet weather may cancel.

Meet at the first parking area on AuerFarm Road located at the bottom of Cider Hill and entrance to the Park. We’ll walk up Cider Hill together to the summit. It is about a 10-minute walk. Although the walk is not particularly steep, it may be slippery based on weather conditions, so make sure to wear appropriate winter walking shoes.
