It is with a heavy heart that I am writing this post. We have been working for three months now to ensure that we have an exhibition event that highlights the work of our 4-H members while keeping them safe. As we have learned since March the situation is fluid, as scientists learn more, guidance changes. Unfortunately this week that affects the Cat and Dog Projects.

Newly released guidance from the CDC:

Prohibit from the show any species shown to be susceptible to SARS-CoV-2, including cats and other felids, dogs, small mammals, mink and other mustelids like ferrets, and other animals shown to be susceptible to this virus. https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/animals/events-animal-activities.html

Unfortunately this means that we can no longer have meetings with dogs until the guidance changes and we will have to cancel the dog show this coming Sunday.

I received this guidance this morning. Susan and I are working to create a virtual option that will allow you to highlight the work that you have completed with your dogs. As we come up with more information we will let you know.

Again, I understand this is not the news you wanted to hear today. It is definitely not the news I wanted to be passing along. As the situation remains fluid, we will continue to work within the constraints that we have.

Thank you for all of your hard work. Know that I am incredibly proud of each and every one of you.
