This Maternal Health Month, we honor the strength, courage, and sacred transition into parenthood. 💙

No birthing person should have to walk the journey of pregnancy, birth, or postpartum alone. Every family deserves support that helps them feel seen, held, informed, and empowered.

At The New Foster Care, we are grateful to the Michigan Health Endowment Fund for supporting our vision to expand access to doula care and improve maternal health outcomes.

We are especially proud to welcome an in-house maternal health team, offering doula services through the trusted relationships our participants and families already know.

Grounded in the Transition to Independence Process (TIP) model, we believe every birthing person deserves voice, choice, and compassionate support as they prepare to welcome new life and build the future they hope for.

We are striving toward meaningful outcomes because care matters—for parent and baby alike:
✨ 95% of participants reporting improved physical or mental health after doula support
✨ Healthier pregnancy and postpartum experiences
✨ Stronger maternal and infant outcomes through informed, supported birth experiences

Doula care is for everyone.

A doula provides emotional, physical, and informational support before, during, and after birth—helping families experience safer, healthier, and more supported journeys.

May is National Foster Care Month — a time to recognize the important role we all play in supporting children, youth, and families.
This year’s theme highlights the need for a child welfare system that authentically engages and supports young people preparing to leave foster care.

For youth aging out without permanent connections, the transition to adulthood can bring significant challenges. That’s why relational support, concrete resources, and meaningful opportunities matter.

At The New Foster Care, we support young adults through the Transition to Independence Process (TIP) model — a person-centered approach that empowers young adults to identify their goals, build on their strengths, and create a vision for their future.

We believe authentic support means walking alongside young adults as they navigate the transition into adulthood, offering guidance, connection, and practical support across six key life domains:

💛 Education
💛 Employment
💛 Housing
💛 Transportation
💛 Mental & Physical Health
💛 Community Connection

By focusing on the whole person, not just immediate needs, we help young adults build confidence, stability, healthy relationships, and hope for the future.

This Foster Care Awareness Month, we recognize the importance of authentic engagement, meaningful relationships, and support that continues beyond crisis.

Together, we are creating a NEW Foster Care.

These are just some of the ways we support young adults aging out of foster care.

We meet them where they are, help them navigate resources, and walk alongside them as they build confidence, stability, and hope for the future.

More than 700 people registered for the community baby shower hosted by Blue Cross Complete at Durfee, and the love and support in the room could truly be felt.

Families had access to diaper resources, safe sleep education, breastfeeding support spaces, health screenings, childcare support, giveaways, raffles, and so many incredible community resources for parents and expecting families.

One of the most meaningful moments for our team was connecting with attendees who shared their experiences with foster care and kinship care. Many families didn’t realize that placement with relatives like grandparents, aunts, or uncles is also considered foster care — and it was powerful to help families learn that support and resources are available for them too.

What a beautiful night celebrating the parenting and expecting moms in our program.

From handmade gifts and birthstone jewelry to sweet treats, spa boxes, and moments of encouragement, this event was all about giving back to the moms who give so much every day.

Thank you to every volunteer, partner, and team member who helped make this night so special.

We’re grateful for the progress and growth we’ve seen this week.
