For decades, Bowers School Farm has been a place where hands-on learning meets community pride.

A partnership between Bloomfield Hills Schools, Oakland County Parks and MSU Extension could take that legacy even further, ensuring Bowers School Farm continues to grow as both a classroom and a community hub.

Under this model, BHS would retain ownership and leads all K-12 education programming, OCP would manage recreation, operations, and public access and MSU Extension would contribute agricultural and environmental expertise

This partnership would create year-round access to a space that blends education, recreation and community—protecting the places we love and inspiring the next generation of environmental stewards.

Bowers Farm and Johnson Nature Center are living, learning and gathering places for our community. A proposed partnership between Bloomfield Hills Schools and Oakland County Parks would strengthen both sites for generations to come, which means:

✨ Flagship public parks in Bloomfield Hills and Bloomfield Township
📚 K-12 living laboratories for hands-on learning
💚 Regional hubs for families, students, and nature lovers

A partnership could expand educational programs for all ages, from K-5 farm visits and middle school STEM projects to high school pathways in veterinary science, environmental studies and green careers.

The leaves are falling, which makes it a beautiful time to visit The Johnson Nature Center! We love seeing the fall colors while walking along the 40 acres of trails.

The Johnson Nature Center is a place for students and families to connect with nature. Bloomfield Hills Schools and Oakland County Parks are exploring a potential partnership to sustain both the Johnson Nature Center and Bowers School Farm for many decades to come.
