FIRST ALERT | ELEVATED FIRE DANGER returns to the region on Friday due to a combination of ongoing drought, gusty winds, and low relative humidity. Please refrain from any outdoor burning‼️

The entire state remains at high risk for wildfire, and burn bans are in place for 50 counties. Ongoing very dry conditions are expected through the week, and elevated wildfire potential will likely persist for several more weeks. We urge Arkansans to stay aware of these conditions and use caution. Even in counties not currently under a burn ban, the risk of fires escaping and becoming severe remains high.

A reminder that while parts of the state received decent rainfall recently, the entire state remains in a HIGH risk for wildfire danger and MOST of the counties within Arkansas have an active burn ban in place as of Monday evening.

Task force teams from Georgia, Kentucky, Mississippi, North Carolina, and South Carolina have arrived in Arkansas to support wildfire response efforts across the state. These crews, equipped with dozers, engines, and additional personnel, are reinforcing our foresters and forest rangers as they work around the clock to protect communities, property, and forestlands. We are grateful for the assistance from our regional partners during this period of increased wildfire activity.

Arkansas Forestry Division has requested assistance through the South Central Forest Fire Compact in the wake of persistent drought and worsening weather conditions, leading to increased wildfire activity and severe wildfire behavior. Division personnel with two dozer units and an engine unit departed today to help.
