Blanding Giant Pumpkin Contest

Because of the dry winter and persistent drought conditions, we won't be doing a giant pumpkin competition this year. HOWEVER, we want to encourage friendly competition and gardening so we are trying something new:

Two ONGOING competitions throughout the summer. We will be doing the HEAVIEST watermelon competition as well as the largest Zucchini contest. For each contest, if you have a beast you want to enter, you will text 435-459-0048 to get it weighed and measured. The heaviest in each category by the 1st of October is the winner! No purchase necessary.

We have only received 1.47 inches of moisture in 2025. This isn't looking good. Because of the moisture conditions we will not be having a Giant Pumpkin contest this year. It would not be responsible when water is going to be very scarce this year. Hopefully next year is better.

Kenydi Kane is the winner of the 2024 Giant Pumpkin contest with a pumpkin coming in at 50.03 pounds! Even after being mauled by some rogue chickens!

The 2024 Pumpkin weigh in will be Wednesday, October 9, 2024 at 6:00pm at 316 W 300 N. This year it will be a open contest so if YOU GREW a pumpkin and you want to see how it measures up in county, bring it on down and lets get it weighed!

Depending on turnout, this may be the only open style contest we do but we have some HUGE plans for making next year's gardening season a competition for all ages and gardening styles. Announcements coming soon!

Did anyone out there grow a pumpkin this year for the weigh in? Next year we will likely be back to a process similar to last year so we can track contestants and progress but for this year, chime in on good or bad dates for the weigh in and lets have a little fun! Your pumpkin doesn't need to be HUGE to participate! We know ours didn't grow nearly as well this year as it did last year so the title of reigning campion is up for grabs!

This year's competition is free to enter. However, we have sponsor possibilities and a few other potential big improvements. So, in order to track competitors, please message us if you plan to participate this year. Or text 435-459-0048. Need to know by May 15th

The moment you have all been waiting for! The San Juan County Giant pumpkin contest is kicking off! There are some changes from last year so please read this post:

1. All pumpkins must be grown in San Juan County
2.There will be 2 different categories this year.
3. Category 1 will have a $10 entry fee and all fees collected will be awarded to the winning grower. This category will be required to comply with the same rules as last year, including monthly pictures, etc. PAPERWORK MUST BE SIGNED BEFORE MAY 1 AND A PICTURE MUST BE TAKEN AT PLANTING TIME.
4. Category 2 is more of a freestyle without any fees or prize money. You are free to grow your pumpkin and may bring it to our weigh-in in the Fall. The only rules for this group are that you can't insert anything I to the pumpkin to modify the weight and the pumpkin must be proveably grown in San Juan County.

We are also doing a Dill's Atlantic Giant Pumpkin seed giveaway. To enter you must share this post, like/follow the page, and comment on the post.
