The hymn, “Look to Jesus” by G. Kernie Keegan, is a beautiful reminder that Jesus is the remedy for ALL of our struggles! I’ll share a verse….. “Are you tired of the life you’re now living? Are you weary of sin and its snares? Are you seeking for that which is lasting? Look to Jesus; you’ll find that He cares….He is watching, He is waiting, He is longing your soul to set free….weary one, give your heart to the Saviour, live with Him through eternity.” 🙂

Tonight’s lesson is “HOPE”
When we decide that we WANT to change, even though we might fear it because we don’t know what COULD happen (good OR bad), we CANNOT rely on just our own “willpower”!
If we put our faith and hope in Jesus’ supernatural strength & power to help us change, absolutely ANYTHING is possible! Our hope in HIM opens the doors that despair had slammed shut!

When we lose a loved one, the next few weeks are full of ups & downs. In times like this, more than ever, we need to remember that Jesus is right there with us…..counting every single tear and wanting to comfort & strengthen us. I’ve personally learned that EVERY moment of peace, strength or unexpected joy we receive from God becomes a “mini testimony”! When others see us survive a dark day, or when we share a kind word with another grieving person, we are passing on God’s comfort.

Tonight’s super important lesson is “Powerless.” In recovery, and in life in general, once we realize & admit that we are NOT God, and we are indeed powerless to control our tendency to do the wrong thing, God can & WILL step in with HIS strength, grace, and (2 Corinthians 12:9) TRANSFORMING power!

Today I just want to share a few random inspirations ~
~Whenever we feel inadequate, remember that Jesus is our EVER-PRESENT help 🙂
~Jesus’ light shines the brightest through believers who trust Him in the dark.
~Whatever occupies our mind the most becomes our “god”.
~The fact that Jesus is ALWAYS with us makes EVERY moment of our lives meaningful! Just wow!

Tonight, we will discuss just how much “DENIAL” can wreak havoc in our lives. I’ll share a few key points:
~Denial gives us a false sense of security, clouding our view of the truth.
~It starts off as a way to help us (coping mechanism), but definitely ends up hurting us…..then it will turn into shame.
~Denial is kind of like “not watching the news” because so many bad things are happening…..just because we don’t watch, it doesn’t mean those things are not happening!

Recently I read a devotion in my “Jesus Calling” book by Sarah Young that really hit home! I’ll try to paraphrase…..”We have a voracious appetite for trying to “figure things out” (ME!) in order to gain a sense of peace & mastery over our lives. But, the world presents us with an ENDLESS series of problems! As soon as we “master” one problem/situation, another one pops up to challenge us! The relief we had anticipated is short-lived 😞. Our mind goes from one thing to the next instead of seeking God. We CANNOT think or “understand” our pathway to peace…..ONLY Jesus can provide us with that! The more we look to and talk to Him, the more we’ll be aware of His presence AND peace that we are ALWAYS enveloped in! 🙂 Hope to see you tonight at 7pm for an amazing testimony!~Laura B

Tonight’s lesson discusses “Seven Reasons we get Stuck”. Here are a few highlights that “hit home” with me!
~God wants to “redecorate, restore, remodel” our hearts (like a house!) until we are more & more like Jesus!
~Did we forget that we ARE NOT God and continue to “try harder” to handle life’s ups & downs on our own?
~If we aren’t open to the changes God wants to make in our lives, (if we don’t know what they are, all we have to do is ASK HIM 🙂 then we have no chance to grow and progress in our recoveries.

If you are like me, once a song gets “stuck” in your head, it’s hard to get it off your mind! Well, for quite some time now, the hymn “Trust & Obey” has been slipping in & out of mind & heart. You think God is trying to tell me something?! Most definitely! 🙂 So, at church this past Sunday morning, guess what one of the songs we sang was? Yippee! I was SO excited & moved, that I might’ve let a tear or two drop. We need to remember that God cares & loves us so very much…..He knows what we need & when we need it! CELEBRATE RECOVERY

I don’t know about you, but I’ve definitely had seasons in my life (esp. when I was in active alcohol addiction!) that I had wandered away from Jesus. I was so filled with guilt, remorse & shame because I knew what I was doing to my body was tearing HIS heart apart 😞
Not to mention the destruction I was causing to those closest & so very dear to me! The fabulous news, is that Jesus was/has been/will ALWAYS be right there with me…..EVERY single moment…..STILL recklessly loving and protecting me! He was a true gentleman and patiently waited for me to turn & seek His face & His amazing love, comfort, strength & grace! We DO serve a truly AWESOME God! Hope to see you tonight at 7pm for a testimony of His miraculous healing 🙂 ~Laura B
