Safe Pet Project “The mission of SAFE PET PROJECT is to build a more humane community for domesticated animals by providing services to keep them safe and healthy.“

Our Purpose:

From dogs to donkeys, from cats to cows, the Safe Pet Project was created to promote health, safety and security for all domesticated animals by providing services and resources to animal owners in our community. Safe Pet Project is not an animal shelter or animal rescue organization. Instead, our focus is to provide education, information, resources and services to animal owners in order to assist them with the various challenges of pet/animal ownership. In addition, we aim to collaborate with other like-minded organizations whose visions match ours of creating a better world for all domesticated animals. We feel that all animals deserve to be treated with respect, compassion and love, and the Safe Pet Project is dedicated to that mission.

💛 Darcy Says: “I’m the Sweetest Girl… So Why Am I Still Waiting?” 💛

This girl is pure sweetness. Darcy gets along with everyone — kids, adults, other dogs — she’s the kind of gentle soul who fits right into any family. Even with her stout little muscular body, she’s soft as can be. She loves to snuggle, loves to play, and loves to just hang out with her people.

She’s amazing in public, too. Darcy goes with the flow, handles new places beautifully, and is always polite. She’s been on so many outings with Shannon that half of Blairsville knows her by name. And every single person who meets her says the same thing:
“She’s such a good girl.”

Darcy is 9 months old, spayed, microchipped, house & kennel trained, UTD on vaccinations, and weighs about 45 lbs — just about done growing. She loves kids, loves romping in the yard with doggy friends, and is still learning that cats don’t always want to play with her (she’s trying!).

Her adoption fee was fully sponsored by her look‑alike Maggie, so her love doesn’t cost a thing to bring her home.

Darcy is ready. She’s waiting. And she deserves the perfect forever family.

🐾 Today’s the Day — Couch Time with Buddy & Gus!
Our Gentle Giants are finally getting their moment.
Join us today, Friday Oct 16 from 1–3 PM at Safe Pet Project Thrift Store for a relaxed meet‑and‑greet in the furniture section.

Buddy & Gus will be hanging out on the couches, ready for pets, belly rubs, and meeting the people who might become their forever families.
They don’t get many chances to attend events — so today is truly special.

If you’ve been thinking about adopting a big, loving dog… come meet them.
Come sit with them.
Come help them find the homes they’ve waited so long for. 💛

🐾 Gus Says: Couch Time Starts Tomorrow!
Gus is getting ready for a kicked‑back, relaxed Friday — and he hopes you’ll join him for Couch Time with Buddy & Gus at the Safe Pet Project Thrift Store!

This 5‑year‑old Plott Hound mix is the definition of a Gentle Giant — tall, calm, and full of heart. He’s neutered, fully vaccinated, and about 70 lbs of easygoing sweetness. Gus walks beautifully on a leash, has a short brindle coat that barely sheds, and doesn’t need a kennel because he’s just that well‑mannered.

He’s the kind of dog who’ll hang outside with you, share a snack while you watch TV, and remind you that peace and companionship are life’s best gifts.

Come meet Gus (and his buddy Buddy!) tomorrow, Friday, Oct 16, from 1–3 PM in the furniture section of the Safe Pet Project Thrift Store.

🐾 Four Little Cuties Ready for Forever Homes! 🐾
These sweet kittens — Mittens, Onyx, Scooter, and Tootsie — are now 4 months old and doing wonderfully! They’re playful, affectionate, and full of personality.

Even Scooter, who once walked on his front knuckles, is thriving thanks to his amazing fosters — now you can barely tell he ever had a challenge. Each one of these little ones loves to play, snuggle, and soak up attention.

They’re all up‑to‑date on vaccines, and their spays/neuters and microchips are included in the adoption fee.

And don’t forget — they’re part of our 2‑for‑1 cat/kitten adoption special!
That means two adorable felines, complete core vaccines, FeLV/FIV testing, spay/neuter, and microchips — all for the price of one adoption fee.

If you’ve been thinking about adding a little joy to your home, these four are ready to make it brighter.

🐾 Buddy — Counting Down to Couch Time!
Buddy can hardly contain his excitement — he’s super stoked for Couch Time with Buddy & Gus this Friday! He’s ready to show off his gentle giant charm and meet everyone in person at the Safe Pet Project Thrift Store from 1–3 PM.

At 3½ years old and around 70 lbs of pure love, Buddy is the perfect mix of playful and calm. He’s neutered, microchipped, up‑to‑date on vaccinations, house and crate trained, and loves both people and other dogs. Living with Ms. A and her crew has taught him that life indoors is pretty great — but he’s still happiest when he gets to stretch his legs outside for a walk or romp.

Buddy’s hoping this event will be the day someone sees what a wonderful companion he truly is — affectionate, easygoing, and ready for his forever home.

🐾 Finn & Nash — Still Waiting, Still Purring! 🐾
These two rescued boys are growing up fast — and their bond is stronger than ever! Finn, the orange‑and‑white explorer, loves greeting visitors with his confident purrs and playful charm. Nash, the white kitten with speckles, is the gentle soul who rolls over for belly rubs and melts hearts with his sweet eyes.

Found just one day apart in the same spot, they’ve been inseparable ever since. Whether they’re sharing a bed or chasing toys, they remind us how love and friendship make every rescue story shine.

✨ Finn — ~6 months old, neutered, microchipped, FeLV/FIV negative, and up‑to‑date on all vaccines (including FeLV).
✨ Nash — ~3 months old, FeLV/FIV negative, up‑to‑date on vaccines (including FeLV), with future neuter & microchip included in his adoption fee.

We’d love to see them adopted together, but we’ll consider separate wonderful homes too.

🖤 Tinker’s New Chapter — From Office Assistant to Catio Queen 🖤
After the last kitten party, Tinker moved into the Safe Pet Project Thrift Store. Her kittens were weaned, and she was comfortable living with her foster, Mrs. E. But when she transitioned to the busy office, she wasn’t quite sure what to think — she preferred to stay tucked under the desk, quietly observing the world around her.

Of all our office assistants, Tinker was the one you’d never know was there… except in the mornings when everything was knocked over,. At night, she’d come out to explore and found the office window shelf — where she could see the other cats on the other side.

Then one Friday, our volunteer came in, crawled under the desk, and gently cooed to her. That’s when it happened — Tinker’s purr motor started running, and soon she was brave enough to come out and about.

We cleared the cat shelf, knowing she wanted to be near the other kitties. Last week, she made the move to the catio with Feyra, and after just a day of adjustment, they became fast friends. Now, Tinker greets visitors with soft eyes and happy purrs when the catio door opens. She’s learning that the store’s daily bustle isn’t so scary after all.

Tinker is a small, petite Tuxedo cat just over a year old, spayed, microchipped, and up‑to‑date on vaccines. You can meet her Monday–Saturday during Safe Pet Project Thrift Store’s normal business hours.

And here’s something truly special:
Mrs. E loves Tinker so much that if she didn’t have allergies, she would have kept her. Since she can’t, she’s sponsored Tinker’s adoption fee to help her find the best forever family ever.

And don’t forget — Tinker qualifies for our 2‑for‑1 cat adoption special!
