❄️Quick reminder to New Jersey residents:
the people outside working in this weather are not “just doing a job.”
They’re layered up, undercaffeinated, and running on muscle memory and stubbornness. They’ve been up since before sunrise and have personal beef with frozen pipes, downed lines, iced over roads, and anything that decided today was the day to stop working.
Those trucks are not a luxury; they’re rolling toolboxes held together by experience, grit, and the quiet understanding that someone has to fix this. Even if the heat might not work and the gloves are soaked, the work is still getting done.
They will be out there longer than planned, saying “almost done” and absolutely not being almost done. They will be solving problems most people never see so the rest of us can stay inside, stay warm, and ride out this storm.
⚠️With conditions like this, we hope everyone out there is staying as safe as possible. This weather is no joke, and the people working through it deserve patience, caution, and a whole lot of appreciation.
This is New Jersey work ethic: hands on, relentless, a little chaotic, and still showing up when it matters most.
At STEP, we exist for the people who choose these paths and the students preparing to step into them. Because skilled trades are not backups. They are the backbone.
⚠️Stay safe, stay alert, and look out for the people working in these conditions.
