Six Orphanage Homes Benefit from US$15,000.00 donations by the Armah and Lydia Foundation
Monrovia, Liberia: The Armah and Lydia Foundation, a Liberian-American charity organization, concluded its annual distributions this year of 2024, by providing support valued at over 15 thousand United States Dollars to six orphanage homes both within and outside of Monrovia.
The donations, comprising rice, assorted clothes, and thousands of Liberian Dollars in cash, aimed to enhance the lives of underprivileged Liberian children across the nation. Among the six institutions benefiting from this initiative are the Mother Victora Thomas Orphanage Home, the Koubay Disabled Foundation and Academy, the Liberian Christian Orphanage Mission, My Brother’s Keepers Orphanage Home, and Teach Liberia.
During separate donation ceremonies held in Careysburg and Montserrado Cities, Mr. Armah Lansanah, Chief Executive Officer of the Armah and Lydia Foundation, encouraged Liberian children to prioritize education, emphasizing honesty, dedication, and hard work as the keys to success in life. While acknowledging the daunting challenges facing Liberian children, Mr. Lansanah reiterated his organization's commitment to addressing their needs, albeit constrained by limited resources. He pledged to continue collaborating with partners in Liberia and the United States to sustain annual distributions of food, clothing, and other essential items.
Mr. Lansanah expressed gratitude to contributors and donors, including US Senator John Hoffman, whose support was instrumental in ensuring the success of the 2024 distribution.
In response to the donations, Pastor Ralph A. Gelego, Founder of My Brother’s Orphanage Home, lauded the Armah and Lydia Foundation for positively impacting the lives of children, particularly amidst challenges faced by orphanage homes. However, he highlighted the decision by Christian Aid International to discontinue the provision of essential supplies and teacher salaries, exacerbating existing difficulties. Additionally, Pastor Gelego raised urgent concerns regarding the lack of safe drinking water, educational materials, and the urgent need for infrastructure development, including the construction of classrooms accessible to disabled individuals.
The Armah and Lydia Foundation remains committed to addressing these pressing needs and continues to seek support from local and international partners to uplift the lives of Liberian children.
