Last night at Chief Sweeney’s retirement party we presented him with a plaque. We thanked him for his 47 years of service to the Blackstone Fire Department and the 14 years he has supported our team. We would like to congratulate Chief Michael J Sweeney on his retirement. We thank you for your 47 years of service to the Blackstone Fire Department and your 30 years as Chief. We thank you for everything you have done for our team for the past 14 years. We hope you enjoy a long happy retirement 45-0.

It was nice to see everyone out at Blackstone Parks and Recreation fall festival. Once again we are sorry we didn’t have chili or frito pie. lol. We will be back in full swing next year at events with our award winning chili and frito pie.

We will be at Blackstone Parks and Recreation fall festival tomorrow from 11am-4pm. This is our first event since the start of the pandemic. We will NOT be selling chili or frito pie.(sorry) We will be selling our t-shirts, bottle koozies, and stickers. Come by and say hi because we have missed our supporters. Come support parks and rec and the other vendors that will be at the event.

Today we are reminiscing about the event that got our team started back in 2008. The MDA Firefighter Chili Challenge on Cape Cod was a great event and we were proud to have been part of it. Unfortunately early last year before COVID-19 hit, the event was cancelled due to lack of interest. Hopefully one year this event will come back and we will return there in full force with our award winning chili.
