I just belatedly learned that Michael Gallimore passed away on Dec 27th, 2018. Mike was a stalwart of Blacksburg Table Tennis and he'll be sorely missed. Here's a link I found to his memorial service:

Leo, Indy, and me (Dan) went to Flip's tournament yesterday. There were 13 players, so everyone played in a giant round robin. Leo took 2nd place, defeating Chris O'Brian and Cosell Constantin, but losing to Stella, an unrated new player to the area, in a great match up. Stella is an 18 year old from China (currently attending HS in the US), who plays a double-winged attack style with short pips on her FH and smooth on her BH. The final game went to 16-14, with some great counter rallies. Hopefully we'll be able to get some video footage of the match later.

Next practice is Oct 3rd (Friday) at 6pm in Commonwealth Ballroom. We have some flyers up, so we're likely to see more new players. Also, please bring your annual membership fee ($20) if you haven't yet paid this year.
